Never recommend
I would not recommend Discovery Commons San Pablo at all.
They are short staffed, their director of nursing is incompetent, and their paging system does not work. My grandmother fell out of bed in March and nobody came to help her. My 17 year old son found her on the floor and had to get help. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She was on the floor so long she had pressure wounds and her kidneys failed. She died a week later. She moved to assisted living to prevent this EXACT scenario and I will feel guilty for the rest of my life that I chose Discovery Commons.
I would like to add that there are some wonderful individuals who work there who truly care about the residents. But the turnover is awful. In the 6 months my grandmother lived there, all of the leadership turned over.

A positive experience!
My mom really likes that the community is smaller. She was overwhelmed by some of the larger places we visited. Also the fact that everyone... staff and residents have been friendly. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

My loved one is currently a resident at Discovery Commons San Pablo and everything has been very good for her at this facility so far. The caregivers are all wonderful. Nurse [name removed] is awesome- patient, kind and hard-working. Communication with the family is decent. The move in process was easy. The meals are decent. The housekeeping is good. I would recommend Discovery Commons San Pablo to others.

My mother has lived here for 1 year. It's a small community which makes it easier for mom to get around. She has made many friends. She really enjoys the group exercises and I often catch her with the ladies playing Scrabble. We could not be happier for her. Oh and the staff here is amazing.

Discovery Commons was nice and homey, they had a different name when we toured and informed us they were changing management soon. So that kind of was a deciding factor, they said it would not affect residents but you never know. It is a little older, but still a lovely facility.

Best for my family
My mother was a resident at Atria 4 years before having to go to skilled nursing. She was loved and cared for there. The staff truly cares AND they know what they're doing. The smaller building was great for her because she didn't get turned around and confused.
The interior of the building is dated, but it's clean and maintained. I had to remember who I was looking for-not me. My mom didn't need a new and modern building. She needed a safe, clean place with people who care. Atria provided that and more.

Welcoming community
Overall we are very happy with Atria Park so far and my mom is receiving great care, she loves it here. I went to a lot of facilities and this was honestly the friendliest, cleanest place. They also let me eat here on my tour and I thought the food was really good. They went out of their way and made me feel welcome. I would definitely recommend to others.

No Better Place
What a sweet place for loved ones. The staff is fantastic. They truly care. The activities person sends me pictures of my mom when I'm not able to be there. They are taking all of the precautions to keep my mom safe during the pandemic. I may not always like it but I know that she's taken care of and safe and that's what matters.

It may be fine for assisted living, but not so good for memory care recipients.ey
Personal items were lost and no one seemed concerned. It's a locked facility, how can things just disappear? Staff was nice enough, but didn't seem to make much of an effort to ensure residents were attending meals or having an opportunity to participate in activities outside of the memory care unit, which I was told they would. All levels of dementia patients were housed together, leading to some extremely loud and upsetting disturbances. Lots of little things I had expected them to deal with, but they didn't, leaving me to wonder why I was paying so much for "care".

We took our mother there to just look at an assisted living facilitiy. It was more than she ever expected. The stafff were all very friendly and introduced her to some clients living at the facility. Her room was larger than expected but not furnished, so we will have to go shopping. There seemed to be activities everyday and both the staff and the clients seemed happy. It had a very positive vibe about it. I think she is going to like her new home there and we are very close to her now- just 5 miles away. It’s perfect.

Interesting Tour
We had a very interesting tour the staff took their time showing us around and they answered any and all questions that we had. The community is very nice and they do have a lot of amenities for their residents. At this point, we feel that our mom does not need quite the level of assisted care that they offer. I would surely recommend this community.
