I have lived at Woodlands Creek Senior Living villas for five years, and I could not be happier with my choice. The location is perfect…close to the Greenbelt Trail for pleasant walks, with shopping and restaurants nearby, plus one of Iowa’s leading medical complexes only a couple blocks away. The Woodlands Creek facilities are well-maintained by caring employees who keep residents active and entertained (special thanks to [name removed], the Independent Living Director). It's acceptable. But has room for improvement!
There is no certified nurse overnight just 1 cna. Sometimes mom has gotten the wrong meds at night. At least she knows what she takes so she could correct them. Sometimes they don't get her meal order if she stays in her room so she doesn't get a meal. You cannot sit at any table at meal time. It is assigned seats.
Meals take a long time to get your order and a long time to get the food. The menu is often different than what they serve. Food just needs help! Very spicy sometimes.

Worry free apartment living.
From the time we visited until the time we moved mom in the staff were amazing! She has a beautiful apartment and dining, nursing, maintenance, and business departments handle everything she needs. They come and get her garbage every day, her laundry every week, and they even brought her a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup when she fell asleep and missed dinner one night. I don’t worry anymore!

Wonderful Staff and Residents
We just moved Mom to Woodlands Creek. At the age of 94, the staff and residents gave her a warm Iowa welcome. The activities in this community are beyond what we expected, the food choices are outstanding. Woodlands Creek was a great fit for her.

Has room for improvement. Recommend with hesitation
Areas of improvements - Better trained staff that are more professional, smaller dining tables like mostly 2&4 tops so people can hear each other, regular exercise classes that aren't canceled or scheduled during breakfast hours, better pest control. We appreciate the transportation service provided. The food is not good and the activities are often canceled at the last minute. The rooms are lovely

Review for Woodlands Creek Senior Living
I picked this place over others due to the overall quality of the facility. The dining room is a large open space with high a high ceiling and large windows over looking a grassy area with flowers and a courtyard. Her apartment has a balcony overlooking the same courtyard. Due to the large windows in the apartment it seems spacious. It also has a full kitchen. I liked that her building is all independent living and her dining area is just for independent living residents. They also were able to hold the apartment for her for 45 days until she could move.

Staff is the heart of success
My mom, my sister and I are 100% happy with our choice. Mom's care has been wonderful. I feel she has lived longer because of their facility. Honestly, the staff at Woodlands Creek are just the best. The building itself is so clean and the apartment sizes and layouts are nice and spacious. Hiring is tough these days, and yet, they manage to hire good, kind people and many employees have stayed years.
They do really good job of finding activities for socializing and trips to stores. It was most important to us that she felt safe and well cared for and she most definitely does.

We were not greeted right away so we stood there wondering when someone would come to welcome us. Nearby staff seemed too busy to say hello. The entrance led directly into a dining area that seemed quite dark and uninviting . The person who finally came to greet us was disorganized and unprepared. We spent way more time asking her questions than she spent telling us about the facility. The written folder we were given was not particularly useful. We did have a good experience during the tour of different floor plans. The units we were shown were updated and had spacious closets that were very appealing. Some units had a view of the interior courtyard- also appealing. Other units looked over the parking lots. It seemed dark and dreary and was not a welcoming environment.

My Parents in Assisted Living
I moved my parents to assisted living in 2016. We loved the staff and the care that was provided. The Woodlands Creek family became apart of our family. There is very little staff turn over in the Nursing Department. The staff loved my parents as their own.

Extremely happy
I have been extremely pleased with Woodlands Creek. We absolutely love it and she is so happy here. The staff is amazing. We toured another facility and there was just no comparison. When we toured with Woodlands Creek every single person was greeting me and smiling and they still do to this day -you can tell that the employees just seem to be happy and love their job. They make an effort to really get to know the residents and they always call mom by her name. They have an amazing activities director who is young and bubbly, something is going on every day of the week. Her apartment is super nice - she has fresh carpet, fresh paint, natural lighting and it is just really pretty. I would highly recommend them to others looking, I would live here myself.

What it was like for my Dad to Live at Woodlands Creek
After losing his wife of 65 years, Dad decided to live at Woodlands Creek for the last 5 years.
The staff was always there for him, helping in every way possible and what I admired most about them is how genuine they were to him and all the residents. It is obvious the staff truly love what they do and they do an excellent job. Thank you to the whole staff and you are all AWESOME!!

Wonderful place
This is a fabulous place to be. Everyone I have visited with is positive and upbeat, I have not ran into one person who is not happy living or working here. They have amazing activities for the residents. They go on outings several times a week and everyone loves it. They have everything any one could want. It starts with villas and goes all the way to a locked unit for their loved Alzheimer’s residents. Come tour the place and you will be reassured of what a nice place this is.

Perfect place for your parents
This is a very well kept community with friendly staff that really care about the residents. The inside and outside of the buildings are pristine, well designed for comfort and aesthetically pleasing. The staff are compassionate and always ready to assist guests and residents. Woodlands Creek is an excellent choice for seniors to call "home".

Positive experience
Overall we have had a positive experience, though we have only had experience through the pandemic. They have been as accommodating as possible and have gone out of their way to help families and residents stay connected. Also, there has not been one case of covid in assisted living portion of the facility. They have done a very nice job keeping them all safe. The rooms are nice and spacious and kept up well, he has plenty of room for what he needs.

My husband and I love it here
My husband and I are here currently and everything’s going good. It’s everything that we thought it would be. The food is great, the people are friendly, they don’t bug you about stuff and it is independent living so you can do what you want but they’re there to help you if you need it. They know your name and the activities are great. You can get 3 meals a day if you want to but they usually serve large lunches. They have a points system and you get 310 points a month that have already been paid for and you use that for dining. They have a lot of variety and they give you so many choices every day. But if you don’t like what’s offered, you can always get something else. We’ve found that their choices are very good. The rooms and the facility are so bright and cheery, there are lots of windows, and we even have a full sized kitchen. The facility will take us out to the mall if we want to go, they’re taking everyone to see the Christmas lights after Thanksgiving, there are card games, bingo, a rec room and movies, an exercise room, there’s adult coloring, and you can sign up to volunteer (recently some elementary school kids came by and we all read to them). We visited a few times before moving in and it just felt like home and we didn’t think we needed to look anymore. I would recommend it here.

This is a great community for excellent care. The community is always clean and maintained. I like knowing that he does enjoy the menu of healthy meals that are provided.
