Great Service and Management
My grandma really enjoying being here. We visited her during this difficult time, and we were really impressed with the great management and service that Valley Vista gave. There is ZERO COVID-19 case here during the entire outbreak so far; all essential medical supplies are sufficient. Staff wear medical masks all the time. Grandma told us it is a wonderful place, great meals, nice people and fun activities. She feels like on vacation. We are so grateful to see grandma is healthy and happy here.

I found this facility worn out, shabby, and dirty. Frankly I was shocked at the condition, given they charge more than [community name removed] for a private room, [Community name removed]is very nicely furnished, and CLEAN! I would never send my mother here.

Invaluable Assistance!
The staff were really helpful when my husband needed assistance with his father-in-law. Valley Vista was the right place that provides more professional, personable & caring staff. When there was an issue, tech device or caring needs, the staff tried their best to satisfy the needs of my husband's father-in-law, they always found good solution timely. Last time when my husband and I were visiting him, there was a problem with the internal calling system, their tech staff coordinated with the calling device company right away while another two staff took care of his shower needs. Not only was their assistance invaluable to us but we learned a lot about how we could better take care of and understand what he was going through at the time.

Bumpy beginning but they are working things out
I ended up picking this community for my Mother because it matched up perfectly with her needs. She has only been here for a month and all of the staff members are very friendly and nice. However, in the beginning, there were a few issues. All of the call buttons didn’t work and it was a system wide problem. They are allegedly looking into a new company for the call buttons. The other problem is there is no heat. They made a temporary solution by using a lot of portable heaters while they get the normal heat fixed. I would recommend this facility to other families.

Horrible facility!
We made a huge mistake sending my Mom here. She did not receive a shower or get laundry service for the first two weeks. I witnessed an aide yelling at a resident who did not receive his medication. Two male residents fighting in the dining room. [Removed] A rash was downplayed by staff. We moved her to another facility and they discovered she had scabies. Two other Valley Vista residents were moved to the same facility, they are all in isolation because of their exposure... Management and staff are distant and uncaring. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS FACILITY!!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New York regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New York regulations for Assisted Living.
