Well cared for
Recently The Preserve at Roseville has had an ownership change. It is Expensive. The Memory Care Staff and Nursing staff is very good. Residents Daughter
I stayed in the guest room for three nights. The carpeting in that room has large “wrinkles” that could possibly cause a person to trip or fall. I told the front desk so it can be addressed and fixed. Moms carpet was dirty and we tried a small shampooer that we had. [name removed] (office) graciously cleaned moms carpet with their industrial carpet cleaner. The dining room was set up beautifully for each meal. From the moment we walked through the front door the staff and residents greeted us. The fall decorations throughout were beautiful and it felt like home. I would like to see soft, quiet music played throughout the dining room (not just by the door to that room). I had a wonderful stay.

Friendly Staff
The facility is new, which is nice. It's clean. Meals are cooked from scratch and it tastes excellent. Staff is friendly except for the head nurse, [name removed]. She can make irrational decisions that negatively impact elderly caretakers' trust in PCA staff.

Some concerns
Unfortunately, we are feeling uneasy with [name removed] placement at the Preserve due to what we feel is predatory behavior by administration. They added on medication management without a signature or consent and billed an additional $[removed]k per month. Our guard is up that they are not committed to the best interest of their residents, but in financial gain.

Our experience with The Preserve of Roseville
Like most: the Activities are varied, now if only I could get my brother-in-law to try more of them. Needs Improvement: The administrative staff is VERY hard to reach, and they don't do a good job of notifying family of changes - they changed the security system on [date removed] and didn't tell residents or family in advance. Weekend staff were handing out their personal phone numbers so people without the new fobs could get in.

Mixed experiences
Our Mom lived in assisted living at the Preserve of Roseville. The doctor she had was one arranged for through the Preserve. We would have liked better communication with Mom's doctor, better communication between her doctor and the care givers at the Preserve, and a better way of their monitoring her diabetes. She enjoyed most meals, activities, and making friends among the residents. The building was well maintained. When she was driving, she enjoyed the underground garage. The view from the windows was beautiful.

The staff. Super friendly and helpful. Very engaging. The food is wonderful. The building is a little smaller and a little cozier. And the third floor apartment my parents have is full of light. My dad is a diabetic and he is very well taken care of. [name removed] is super.

Review for The Preserve at Roseville
Parents moved into The Preserve in Roseville 6 months ago as independent living. But when Mom needed assistance for a couple months, hands-on staff was caring and competent. Executive and Nursing administration are upbeat and approachable, and act quickly as things arise. [name removed] in maintenance is cheerful, knowledgeable and willing to fix or troubleshoot whatever needs it! All around, we have been very pleased with The Preserve.

Preserve at Roseville review
It was a pretty building and a nice location, but they were chronically understaffed and there were minimal activities and we moved my mom to a different location that had more people and better staffing. The building was pretty. It had nice art and a pretty deck facing a wetlands. The front desk often was unstaffed. And they often didn't vacuum the hallways or mom's apartment very often.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Minnesota’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Minnesota’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Preserve at Roseville 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies.
