Dad's new journey
They have studio, one bedroom, two bedroom apartments.
Dad's in a corner apartment little smaller but also priced little cheaper.
They have housekeeping that comes by once a week to clean his room.
They have laundry service for linens, bathroom towels but you wash your own personal clothing and they have a laundry room on each floor for the residence.
They have daily activities and then they have movie night. Does not seem to be a lot of participation in the activities according to Dad, but I don't know that for a fact.
For the food, I'm very disappointed that there's not a dietitian.
Dad was able to get off of some of his medication's due to some of the foods that I was feeding him here at the house and now that he's there we're having to put him back on those medication's because of the foods that are being served are not really good for a diabetic or prediabetic person.
Not having a dietitian for their food and there's not really a wide selection of choices they say it's restaurant type menu, but it truly is not. You fed more of a three course four course type meal.
And with dad being prediabetic and has been diabetic, he is not making the right choices as to what to eat nor are there large selection choices so it's a little disappointing in the food aspect.
Regarding the staff, housekeeping, front desk back office you couldn't ask for a better group of people.

This place was recently remodeled. It is clean and cute with lots of activities. There is a garden with cement paths. It’s close to Mercy Hospital. It’s also near a grocery store and drug store. The folks I met were very friendly. I feel good about my dad moving in there.

A lot of fun activities. Very nice place and people. I would recommend. The only thing is with housekeeping. They have had trouble keeping people and therefore housekeeping has always been a problem.

Friendly but not living up to the sales pitch.
Activities are minimal, bus frequently down, cleaning service inconsistent due to lack of staffing, meals very inefficient and tenants frequently complain how long it takes for meal service. However, staff is friendly, and the place is maintained. Special holiday meals are upgraded and appreciated.

Unfortunately the elevator wasn't working so we didn't go upstairs. The only unit I saw was one just recently vacated and in need of repair.

Overall would recommend
Overall it's fair. Some of it is just about timing. They are doing renovations. Painting all inside and replacing carpet which is taking a couple months. Of course it will be nicer but almost all activity rooms are a mess because of it.
The one that bothers me the most is the shuttle bus has been in the repair shop for over a month and they have not provided a alternative. Of course they can pay themselves for an Uber but to me they should be paying for it.
The staff I would give a 4-5 most are very friendly, others more reserved but so far they like them. The place seems clean and housekeeper is very good and nice. Food is to their liking.

Shasta Estates is wonderful!! A bit expensive, but absolutely everything I need and want! The food is absolutely great-three meals a a day included in the rent! Almost all rooms have a patio/ balcony big enough for chairs, small table and plants. Sound proofing is excellent. I am on 2nd floor and I don't hear anything from above or below. Just the stairway next to me... but not often. Everyone is cordial and friendly! They have tons of activities to choose from!

My family recently toured the Shasta Senior Estates facility in Redding last week on behalf of my 88 year old father. It is a lovely, well maintained facility for independent seniors. We were greeted by [name removed]. He provided a comprehensive tour and lots of information about the lifestyle and culture of the facility. My father will be in need of a more structured program based upon his specific needs. I recommend Shasta Senior Estates, it is a lovely place with lots of activities for independent seniors.

Overall, nice community. The staff is friendly and helpful
Overall, Shasta estates is good, but made service weekly is supposed to be included in the rent and they do not clean every week due to short staffing. I would recommend this community to others who are looking. They serve three meals a day, which are balanced and delicious. They are close to downtown and for me, my mom is much closer to my house then she was across town..

Quality living for reasonable prices
Quality facilities for the price compared to surrounding areas. Quality staff. On the negative side, the meal quality has diminished over the past year. Lots of chicken served. Also, last year we were told that the whole facility was being updated with new flooring, etc. We haven't seen any of that take place

Staff is very nice and accommodating. Transportation is very limited. The bus makes rounds, so you may end up sitting at the grocery store for an hour. Dining is inefficient and the biggest complaint of residents.

He has a very nice apartment that is newly renovated. The overall facility is reportedly getting a face lift (yet to start) but he does find the overall residents to have more debility and cognitive impairment than his prior independent senior living setting so finding active engaged community members is more challenging.

Beautiful location and a very friendly staff
My parents moved in here, September 8. They were able to get into a large one bedroom apartment. It has taken sometime to adjust to the new living situation. They are adjusting and getting into a routine and are very happy there.

Hoping for Improvements
These above ratings are based mainly on my wife's input with some of mine. She considers the management staff and overall management of the facility to be incompetent.
We haven't had enough experience to rate them against other facilities so I don't know how to compare. If I was going to move into one of the homes, I would still consider Shasta Estates.
