More staff would be great. If they could preventmy loved one from falling so much, it would really help. Also, there needs to be better communication between the departments. Signals have gotten crossed/miscommunicated several times. Everyone is very nice and caring.

Good Communication
I thought the staff did a great job of communicating with the family. They reached out to us virtually every day, with pictures and emails. They went out of their way to keep the my loved one in the facility, even though she had some behaviors that were difficult to manage. They really went above and beyond to help. We did have to provide some private aides to assist with that, but hey helped us get everything arranged. I think they provided excellent care given the circumstances of the pandemic. It was not the easiest of times. They kept their positivity rates very low, and they did a good job of communicating with the families when there were positive cases. I think they did a very good job handling the pandemic. Overall it was a very positive experience. I would recommend it highly.

The Review of The Bridges
I would recommend others look at this community for their loved ones. This is brand new, and less residents for the care takers. The food was good to start with, then the food went downhill when they lost the chef. I don't know how it is currently.

Good concept, something is missing
The building is beautiful and the concept is great. I love that it is more medical than most places and they don't nickel and dime you for care, it's all included, even taking care of and administering the drugs! There are many caring staff in the neighborhoods, but there is something missing! The interaction is a little flat and the communication is bad. I reached out to ask questions about my mother's health and they never got back to me, and in fact after I reached out a second time, I felt the higher up people that I tried to engage with, then continued to avoid me when I visited. The food is ok. Some of the other Bridges have a great reputation for their food, but this food is ok. On the holidays the food is very good, but on the day to day it is just ok, and they don't try to find the residents something else to eat if they don't like what's offered like they say they do. Many of the staff don't engage with the residents that much, and there are activities which can be good, but they are very slow to get them started, with long wait times, and they don't get the residents that excited or engaged. Seemed a bit like the residents that were more confused got less attention. They have lots of outings with the residents, but seem to take the same residents. We asked to have my mother go, but she never went anywhere in 7 months. They talk about it being a family, but I never felt like they cared that much about my mother, in fact when she passed away, we didn't hear from a single employee or the community at all. Not one person even reached out to say, "Sorry for your loss", we only knew she passed because an outside hospice nurse contacted us. Not very homey! My mother was pretty laid back and she didn't deserve the lethargic care that often occurred. I did reach out to say I felt really bad that we heard from no-one when she passed, and it felt like no-one even cared about my mother, with little response. I never complained while she was there, and she wasn't high maintenance. In fact she threw up one Monday, and it was still in her bed on Friday when I returned. I really wanted to love it, but it just isn't fulfilling what it should.

They get an A+
Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff has continued to do a fantastic job. They have been keeping everything air tight and clean and have done everything they can to protect the residents. They are at present free of cases. They have been very vigilant with keeping the place clean. They have really gone the extra mile with my dad. He had some special needs for a while after recovering from a fall, and they did a lot of extra work to make sure he was staying as healthy as possible. Several of the care giving staff have gone above and beyond to help him. He seems much more relaxed here than he did at previous communities and overall seems very happy. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for senior living for their loved one; I have complete confidence in Bridges. I can't say enough good things about them.

He had good care there
The place is very new and it's like waking into a resort. There is no odor, it smells and looks clean. They are pretty on top of taking care of all the residents. One of the things we were a little disappointed with was the food. When my father first moved in, the food was great, but then they had a change in chefs and the quality went down. We didn't feel the food they were giving was nutritious or healthy enough. They did have a lot of great activities, although my father didn't often participate. We felt like what he was paying was not quite worth it, however for the region it made sense. I would and have recommended Bridges.

Praise for Bridges by EPOCH of Andover
We couldn’t have asked for better care for my parents during their residency at Bridges by EPOCH of Andover. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable and have a homey feel. There are numerous activities to engage the residents. But best of all are the many staff members who go the extra mile in their compassion and commitment to the health and well-being of the residents. The current pandemic has made their job complicated and dangerous but their dedication hasn’t faltered.

Happy as I can be in present times.
My biggest issue is that the communication with the families surrounding Covid-19 has not been the best. I have set up calls and they don’t happen and I never hear back about it. It has happened multiple times. They are not willing to work around my work schedule. It is hard when I live 500 miles away. I understand they are working with a stressful situation due to the virus. They do not keep us informed as to their stats with the virus. The food is excellent, The outdoor space is great. The room sizes are more than adequate. It is overall a great place and the staff is wonderful.

A Place for Mom has scored Bridges by Epoch at Andover 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
