They could use some more staff members
This is a good community. Housekeeping comes in once a week and they also keep the common areas clean. I do feel they are understaffed at this time, however the staff they do have is very nice and helpful. The food is good and they do offer some activities.

I have mixed emotions about my father's Respite care
The staff here were very kind to my father while he was here for a 3-week respite stay. He was in a studio apt and he spent a lot of time in his bed and I am not sure that they encouraged him to come and be a part of the activities. Unfortunately, he developed some high blood pressure issues and they did not call his doctor until the day he was coming home, plus he was supposed to have two weeks of physical therapy while he was there as ordered by his doctor and that did not start until the week before he was to come home. He did go to the dining area and he made a good friend who passed a day before my dad came home so when I picked him up I noticed that my father was having some difficulty as he was unsteady on his feet and very confused and it took some time for me to get him back into his normal routine at home.

Nice Tour
We had a good tour of this community. Everyone was very kind to my family, and myself. From what I saw the community appeared to be clean, and well-kept. The staff was friendly, and nice. It was nice experience, but not the place for my in laws.

My mother's care
This is a beautiful community for my mom. The staff is very nice and attentive to her needs. She seems to like the meals and I am glad that she is eating. They do offer her some activities. We would recommend this community to other families.

Touring The Community
When I went to visit the community, the atmosphere was not as vibrant as I would like. We popped into independence side and I did not like it. It was dated and dark. It needed tender loving and care. The rest of the community was nice, the assisted part. They did a good job showing us the community and understood our needs. Based off how we felt for my dad, this was not the right fit.

A Marvelous Job
They have done a marvelous job of making themselves available. There are lots of way to reach people. they have done a great job that your loved one is safe in their care. There is check-in and out, locked doors, it is very secure. Visiting is easy and the rooms are bright and attractive and large. The food is not very good.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Virginia regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Virginia regulations for Assisted Living.
