Very nice facility
American House is a very nice facility to live at. The residents make you feel right at home after you move in. I highly recommend this for you or your loved ones. Great staff. The food is not too good, but everything else is GREAT! The staff and the facility. All are very friendly and outgoing.

Very nice facility
American House is a very nice facility to live at. The residents make you feel right at home after you move in. I highly recommend this for you or your loved ones. Great staff. The food is not too good, but everything else is GREAT! The staff and the facility. All are very friendly and outgoing.

A nice place
American House West is a nice place for the money for seniors not requiring nursing care.
When there was an emergency, they responded immediately.
My mother was not eating adequately. She complained about the quality of the food. It was not easy for her to sit at big tables of strangers, many with groups of buddies. Nor was it easy to wait in line for a meal to go. Smaller food items available throughout the day would lessen the crowded meal times. Later we found out she had a stomach ulcer so perhaps that was the main issue, not the quality of the food. It was crowded though and i was the one picked up the food for her.
When a person arrived for take out, they had to wait to give an order. Then you had to wait to receive it. In my opinion, one pre- packaged meal to go would be easier on the kitchen staff who were always very busy.

Would Recommend
It's a small environment, which we like. The apartment is outstanding. The layout is very nice, although the light switches don't indicate what works and what doesn't. I wish the bedrooms had overhead lights vs. the current setup of having to have lamps. And I also wish that the services were all-inclusive instead of having to work with a private company for care.

For low income seniors an excellent chocie for elder care
This community is open and spacious. This is a great place to feel hope again. My loved one participated in the physical therapy and loved it.

my impression of American house
The staff is very kind and considerate. The community provides a lot of services for the residence. Communication between the staff and our family is really good and they keep us well informed. If there is import mail the community will let the family know there is mail that needs attention. I would recommend this community to others.

High price, low value
Stay away. Very high price that doesn't include much service and tiny little apartments. Management passes problems back and forth and problems never get solved, and the corporate office's response was basically "oh well". They are always understaffed. They nickel and dime you for every little thing, so the cost is always way higher than expected.
The caregivers work for a totally separate company. My grandma was here for about six months before we moved her to a place nearby with better services and a lower price.

Theft of Deceased Belongings
My spouse passed away. Staff went into his locked room and stole items from his room, including the food in the cabinets. I notified the facility manager and was told she'd investigate and would call me back. She did not. This is such a foul violation of the family and the deceased. It's very difficult dealing with the grief of losing a loved one but also dealing with a disgusting and disgraceful violation at the same time. I also intend to file a complaint with the State of Michigan (LARA).

West Bloomfield’s Hidden Gem!
American House Westbloomfield is a wonderful place, to work and to live, caring compassionate staff, their heart and soul is devoted to the happiness and well being of the residents. The community is full of amazing residents, and families. It’s a place that is filled with love, laughter and fun, it’s like living in a resort.

Great Care
We had a family member live here for three years. The care was beyond excellent and the staff second to none. The CEO, [name removed], pays particular attention to overall staff performance and does not tolerate poor activity or lack of attention to detail. She takes great pride in the facility and is continually looking for ways to make it nice for all residents. We would recommend this to all who are interested in a senior living facility.

Surprised with the great changes
We are so pleased with all the changes we are seeing with my grandmother since she has moved here. She likes her apt, which looks out on the courtyard and we've got her furniture arranged so that she feels more at home. Grandma has started making friends, enjoys taking part in the different activities which really surprised us. The chef here stays very actively involved with the residents, he met with my grandmother when she first moved in to find out about what she likes and if she had any special diatary needs that would have to be addressed, The food is great and grandma likes joining her"little click" of friends as she calls them in the dining room. there was event a special "Great Grandparents day" event and I got to bring my kids to celebrate with her. I would definitely recommend this community if you're looking for a loved one.

Wonderful, caring community for our parent
Our Mom moved into American House in January 2017. This was a huge move for her as she was leaving her house, which she could no longer maintain independently. The Independent Living with Enhanced Services has allowed our Mom to have her own apartment, keep her beloved cat and yet not have to worry about housekeeping, cooking and the upkeep of a house. American House contracts with The Medical Team for additional care that a resident might need. This has been a godsend to us in that we met with the team, decided on what services would be best for our Mom to allow her to feel independent, yet have a bit of assistance where needed. The activities are varied and we love seeing our Mom be part of a loving, social community of residents. The staff at American House are awesome, caring and you can tell that they get to know each and every resident. It warms our heart to see our Mom so happy and content. Thank you, American House!

Great staff at American House W. Bloomfield
I am totally impressed with the caring dedication of the staff. From the Director to the wait staff, they treat residents with kindness and dignity. The physical facility is just okay, with rather small, outdated apartments. The food is fair, with only the soups being consistently good. The Medical Team is not particularly vigilant. We witnessed a resident drop all the pills she had just been handed, and the Medical Team person didn't notice and just walked off.

Didn't Work Out, But A Very Nice Community Overall
This is a lovely community, but unfortunately they were not able to provide the level of caring my father needed. It is a great community, with very kind people. I truly wish it would had worked out. It is a nice and clean community. Medical staff and everybody tried their best to care for him. I really enjoyed our experiences here. I would highly recommend this community.
