I feel confident in the care of the staff there that oversee her daily needs and communicate well and regularly with me to make sure [fee removed] needs are met. Appreciate the fact that they celebrate birthdays and holidays with their clients and make sure they are comfortable and cared for. Unique Care Assisted Living is a clean, safe, and welcoming home where residents are treated with dignity and respect. The caregivers are attentive, patient, and truly care about the well-being of each resident. You can tell that this is not just a job for them—they take pride in what they do.
The environment feels more like a home than a facility. The rooms are well maintained, meals are served on time, and residents are encouraged to stay engaged based on their individual abilities. Communication with families is open, and visits are always welcomed, which brings peace of mind.
What stands out most is the personalized care. Residents are not treated the same across the board—their care is based on their specific needs, which shows professionalism and compassion. Overall, Unique Care Assisted Living provides quality care in a supportive and respectful setting

Kind people AND wonderful service!
My Mothee in Law was placed here almost 5 years ago. We have had an absolutely great experience. We get videos of her dancing, birthday pics, etc!! This is so important as we live far away and don’t get to visit as often as we like. We KNOW she is in good hands. ??????. I am so grateful for this facility! Words cannot explain! She is a part of their family!!!

Truly a blessing
Unicare Assisted Living has truly been a blessing. From the very beginning, the care, compassion, and attention shown to our loved one gave us peace of mind that is hard to put into words. The staff are kind, patient, and genuinely invested in the well-being of each resident. You can tell this is not just a job to them — they care from the heart.
The home is always clean, calm, and welcoming. Our family appreciates the way the staff communicate, keep us informed, and treat our loved one with dignity, respect, and love. It truly feels like a family environment, not an institution.
Choosing Unicare Assisted Living was one of the best decisions we made. Knowing our loved one is safe, comfortable, and cared for with compassion means everything to us. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and care provided every day.

The Best Care Ever!
I was referred to Unique Care Assisted Living by A Place for Mom. My sister has been cared for by Unique Care since 2019. The staff has consistently provided excellent, caring and compassionate care for her, and have been able to adapt effectively as her condition declines. Mt sister is treated like a family member; she has accompanied the owners to church and other events when she is able to participate. The facility is always clean, the meals are delicious, and communication regarding her status/needs is consistent and complete. I absolutely recommend Unique Care for anyone who requires the services provided by an assisted living facility.

If you want your loved one to be safe and treated with compassion and dignity this is not the place.
This place is awful. I find it hard to believe anyone gave this place more than one star. If you want your loved one to be safe and treated with compassion and dignity this is not the place. My mother is 94 has dementia and was there for 8 months. The staff is lazy and the owner/ nurse is never there and very hard to contact. Once you finally get owner she is less than helpful. They treat their residents like potted plants. There are no activities or interaction with the residents. The food served is out of a can, pork and beans with a potato, no nutritional value. My mom withered away in the 6 months she was there. The last six weeks they didn’t get her out of her bed because she was experiencing pain and they had no interested in finding a way to relieve her pain. The staff doesn’t seem to be trained. I watched the staff change my mom’s soiled linen and she screamed in pain as they moved her and they didn’t acknowledge her screams. Also little things I noticed like her television

We take all feedback seriously; however, this review does not reflect our facility, our practices, or our residents, and we believe it was posted in error regarding Unique Care Assisted Living.
We would also like to note that this review was posted in March of last year, yet Unique Care Assisted Living did not have a resident matching the description provided during that timeframe, during 2025, or any time before or thereafter.. Our census, admission records, and clinical documentation do not support the claims made in this review.
Our residents are always treated with compassion and dignity, in accordance with COMAR 10.27.11 and applicable state regulations governing assisted living services. We provide daily hands-on care, regular repositioning, ongoing pain monitoring, and prompt communication with physicians and families whenever pain or discomfort is observed. Any suggestion that a resident was left in bed for weeks without care or pain intervention is inaccurate and inconsistent with our policies, care plans, and regulatory requirements.
We would also like to clarify that we do not serve , canned pork and beans, or nutritionally inadequate meals. Our residents receive freshly prepared, balanced meals cooked daily by trained caregivers, with careful attention to dietary needs, physician orders, and individual preferences, in compliance with state nutritional and dietary standards.
In addition to personal care services, we provide structured and meaningful activities in accordance with state requirements. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily activities designed to promote social engagement, mobility, and cognitive stimulation. We also utilize an activity professional who periodically comes into the facility to provide hands-on activities tailored to residents’ abilities and interests.
The owner of the facility, along with her husband—who serves as the assistant manager and delegated nurse—are actively involved in the clinical oversight, care coordination, and daily operations of the facility, as required under Maryland assisted living regulations. They remain accessible to residents and families through established communication channels.
We respectfully request that this review be verified, as it appears to reference a different facility. Families considering Unique Care Assisted Living are welcome to contact us directly, schedule a visit, and speak with current families who can attest to the quality, compassion, and respectful care we provide every day.

Dig deeper and you will see
The staff changes every 90 days. Therefore it is inconsistent care. Some staff are very knowledgeable and caring while others- not so much.
Owners are seldom onsite. Increase in monthly fees with less than 90 days notice by $[fee removed] and no changes in care.
Very limited medical care and activities for residents.
Home is very clean. Meals are well portioned and timely. Nutritional value is questionable. Overall safe environment. Family is welcome to visit at all times.
Family is responsible for all hygiene products.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to respectfully clarify several statements in this review, as some of the information appears to be misunderstood or inaccurate.
Unique Care Assisted Living does not change caregivers every 90 days. We consistently employ full-time caregivers, with an additional staff member who assists periodically. As with hospitals and other healthcare settings, staff schedules may rotate; however, we prioritize consistency and continuity of care for our residents at all times.
Additionally, the statement that the owners are rarely on site is inaccurate. Both owners are actively involved and are regularly present at the facility. While they may not always be physically present during a family visit, they remain fully engaged in daily operations, care oversight, and ongoing communication with families.
It is also important to clarify the issue of fees. We do not raise fees across the board or without cause. The resident referenced in this review was originally admitted at a lower level of care and resided in a private room at that rate for over three years. Over time, the resident’s condition declined to a higher level of care status, requiring significantly increased assistance, including the use of a hoyer- lift and additional caregiving support.
The change in the resident’s level of care and the corresponding fee adjustment were discussed in detail with the resident’s Power of Attorney. The reasons for the increase, based on the additional services being provided, were clearly explained and agreed upon. In accordance with our contract, a minimum of 30 days’ notice was provided prior to the care-related fee adjustment.
In assisted living, fees are based on each resident’s individual care needs and are not applied equally to all residents. Any fee adjustment reflects the level of care required and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
We would also like to note that the resident referenced in this review remains with our facility and is doing very well. Family members have expressed satisfaction with the care being provided and regularly offer positive feedback, including daily compliments to our caregivers for the compassionate and attentive care they provide.
We remain committed to providing a safe, clean, and supportive environment, personalized care, and open visitation for families. We value transparency, fairness, and respectful communication and appreciate the opportunity to clarify our care practices.

Unique Care Assisted Living really is a Unique Experience!!!!!!!
My mom is in a really good place. The staff is very friendly. The food is fine. We picked this community because, it was recommended by A Place for Mom, and it was the best, for the care and attention that my loved one needed. They could improve on, communication regards to scheulding appointments. I would recommend to other families.

Excellent Care at an Excellent Cost
It is a home based community. There are not a whole lot of activities. They do have dancing and karaoke on occasions.
The community is very attentive to the residents. There are only 3 residents so they get personalized attention.
The food is good.

The staff at Unique Care Assisted Living in Bowie, MD exceeded our expectations by far! After touring this beautiful home, I am positive that my grandmother's transition from her house to her new place of residence will be seamless. The staff and aids were professional, nurturing and compassionate. They addressed all of my questions and concerns, which only reassured our family's decision to choose Unique Care Assisted Living as my grandmother's next place to call home. I am confident that I will be kept in the loop and that they will work diligently at allowing my grandmother to maintain her independence as much as possible, but still remain her "shadow" as needed. I highly recommend Unique Care Assisted Living to anyone looking for a place that is exceptionally clean, welcoming and provides gold standard care to all of its residents.

The home is very welcoming, beautiful, and warm. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with lots of natural light. The staff can cater to individuals or families with many different needs as they have a ton of experience in the industry.
The kitchen, is lovely and the backyard is spacious with plenty of room for activities. I highly recommend using Unique Care as your choice for assisted living needs.

I have worked with the owners of Unique Care Assisted Living for years! At some point, I entrusted them with the care of one of my family members. I have no regrets! They took the best care of her and treated her like family!
