A great place
5 stars for all categories! We chose The Village at Allandale because of the welcoming atmosphere and the cost compared to other facilities. They have amazing staff who really care about the patients.

About the facility
The Village At Allandale

In 2003, the Village at Allandale, formerly Kingsport Senior House, opened its doors as Kingsport Senior House, a single home for 26 seniors. The 2010 expansion added two family oriented homes with 26 elders residing in each. Today, we are proud to be the only assisted living facility in the area to offer the innovative nationwide trend of smaller homes rather than a traditional, larger medical facility for elder housing. In addition to resident rooms, each building has a friendly kitchen, dining room and comfortable living/family room. Research indicates that people feel more at home and like a family in these smaller homes and relationships truly blossoms! This warm atmosphere combats the symptoms of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom that face the senior population today.

Our Mission- The Village at Allandale, formerly Kingsport Senior House, is a community committed to enhancing the quality of life of elders in a supportive, loving, happy home were their independence, dignity, respect, preferences, and family relationships are honored.

Friendly staff - they really were exceptional
It's a very nice place for someone with dementia, which my aunt had. My uncle died within a week of arriving there and my aunt fell about 2 months later and fractured her hip, so she left there and passed away in a rehab facility post surgery. I really appreciated A Place for Mom's help in finding a place.

friendly, respectful staff
Staff have always treated her with respect and kindness. They are all very responsive to my questions and calls when checking in on her. They keep me well informed of changes with her medication, doctor visits or if she has an accident. Mom complains some but she eats it. I think it more of what she thinks she doesn't like what they have to eat. They seem to have a routine on meals. I've not tasted it so I can't tell you on that. I know she never has been fond of soup. I know it has to be hard to cook for lots of people with different likes and dislikes.

Would recommend
What our family likes the most about The Village at Allandale community is the staff members, they are all very helpful. The administrator, [name removed], has been super helpful, as have the nurses in the Yesterdays Place unit. Based on the experience so far, we would recommend this community to other families who are looking for a place for their loved ones.

I toured this community and didn't get a great first impression. I had a scheduled tour and when I arrived I was told that my tour guide was out sick. A nurse and an administrative member who was new hopped in and handled my tour. The facility itself seemed ok, the room that they showed me wasn't as well outfitted as some other places.

I found a place that makes even ME happy and comfortable
This facility is great. The staff is amazing. They cater to the residents and are just wonderful people. Communication with the family is wonderful. They keep us updated and informed. Housekeeping and laundry is multiple times a week, as well as showers, fresh bedding, and taking out the trash. They do a great job. I would recommend them to family and friends.

A Great Place
I would highly recommend it to any others looking for a place like this. I like the setting in itself and am happy with the facility. I like how well the residents are treated and looked after. The food is food that elderly people are used to. I've never gotten any complaints on it from my family, and it's more like home cooked meals. It's just a really good place.

Our experience
Our family had an in person tour scheduled, but by the time we were going to look at this community our loved one already made their decision. However we had a very close family friend who stayed here and we know the staff took amazing care of him. We are looking forward to the day we can come back and tour.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Tennessee regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Tennessee regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored The Village At Allandale 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
