wonderful experience - highly recommend
The Ivy provides a loving & caring environment for its residents & families. Our initial tour of this community convinced me that this would be a good place for mom. Mom moved in with a great deal of trepidation and resistance making her transition (and ours) difficult, however the staff worked with her with respect and patience to help her adjust. The Ivy provides an "aging in place" for their residents. This was one of the things that sold me on this facility though I knew that we would have to bring in private aides to assist in providing the additional one on one care she would need. We were guided by the Ivy staff to a highly reputable outside agency. The agency staff and Ivy staff worked in concert to provide mom with the best of care. The next step was hospice unfortunately, but we were counseled and guided by Ivy to a reputable agency with whom they worked well with. I can't say enough about the support, guidance, love and respect we received from all involved

would not recommend, it did not meet expectations.
I would not recommend the Ivy Memory Care facility. When interviewing them prior to move in, many promises were made to aid in transition that were not met. Not enough staff; activities- well, very few - hours spent in front of tv, coloring - not enough table space besides not all could hold markers and no alternate choice; activity room size inadequate; food did not meet needs of my mother as she could not cut her food and staff "not allowed to help". As my mother, declined and needed 2 aides to get in and out of bed (no hoyer allowed), took more time to dress, wash, eat - we were told we needed to hire a personal care aide which we did. At our interview, we were told she could age in place - no indication that we'd have to provide more aides. Cleanliness - 3+ in her apartment. She was incontinent so accidents - they cleaned carpet 1 or 2 times (still smelled) and then said once a year is their policy. Surface cleaning. Once we hired personal care aide, the Ivy stopped doing her laundry and sheet changes... Friendliness gets a 4-5, but the aides were not always available to help with transfers, bed to wheelchair and back...We had an aide call out, I was there and waited over 11/2 hours for assistance - they were in activity room sitting at the sides table - where they were often. The personal aides reported the same problem - not always, but yes, it happened. Well, we have nothing to compare to but I don't believe the care she got justified the cost, particularly after we retained personal care aides.

Response from The Ivy at Watertown
August 29, 2024
We are so sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. It was an honor and privilege to care for your loved one and we take any concerns very seriously and will do anything we can to address them. A transition to residency in a memory care community can offer varying challenges to different individuals and situations. Our staff employ a variety of techniques and skills to assist our residents and families during the transition and will help any way we can. The activity program on our Reflections community offers a host of different ways to engage our many residents who are at varying stages of their dementia. We strive to provide appropriate staffing and space to accommodate our residents’ needs. Assisted Living residents will sometimes reach a point in their journey when they require skilled nursing care as those provided at a convalescence home or skilled nursing facility. These needs may include requiring a mechanical lift device to get in and out of bed safely, or being fed at meals. Although The Ivy provides only assisted living care, often families will opt to have a private aide provide additional care to enable their loved one to remain in our community instead of transferring to a nursing home. We make every effort to communicate with families regarding any need for a private care giver and the coordination of that care. Throughout our resident’s stay with us, we remain dedicated to their care and faithful to our mission.

The staff are friendly and seem to take good care of the residents. I have heard complaints about the food. They have recently changed their Chef so it might be better. I don't have first hand experience on the food and I don't fully believe my father because he complains about any food that's not European.

Amazing
There are so many different choices that do not repeat consecutively. There is a lot of participants. Residents laugh, share stories and socialize during activities which makes it have a sense of family, friends and belonging. The staff genuinely have huge hearts and put the residents first. The activities directors and assistants always invite, include and show love to them all. They take their suggestions and requests and put it on the calendar and make sure they are all heard and happy.

Awesome community!
The Ivy is so involved with their community. They do so many activities, events and outings with their residents. My son has even been able to participate/attend their trunk or treat event, dog therapy sessions, Easter bunny pictures all while being able to chat with the residents. We even got to wave and cheer them on in the town parade!! These are all such great experiences for both parties. The Ivy does an awesome job with their activities.

Overall a great place
The Ivy at Watertown is beautiful, we have no problems there at all, the services are fine and the rooms are beautiful. We have had a few meals there ourselves and they are really good. The activities also seem to be fine. The staff also are really good about bringing our loved one his medication three times a day which we think is the most important.

A wonderful place to live
I love the staff and the residents because they are friendly and caring. I love the recreation director! She has lots of exercise programs and we go on many outings. This place is so beautiful and I am so happy to bring in friends and family to show off this lovely community. My daughters like that they are notified what is going on and how I am doing. The nurse and a CNA stopped in when I got home from the hospital and checked on me to see how I was doing and if it wasn't for them stopping in I would not have known my blood pressure dropped and they were there for me and stayed with me for half an hour. The staff is terrific! The chef is excellent with a great menu and you can request special items not on the menu, you have lots to choose from. Can't be a better place for your loved ones. Housekeeping is great and the place is clean and I would not go anywhere else. The management is easy to talk to and great to work with and they are there for you. I have lived her for two years.

Best community I have visited
This by far is the best pace for my father. I was warmly greeted and in awe of how clean, new and beautifully done this senior living community is! I can picture my father enjoying the rest of his life here. The staff are amazing and I met almost all of them on the first visit! They are kind and understanding and above all heard my story and understood what my father needs and actually helped me. The marketing director was wonderful, kind, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. I met the Chef and learned about the great restaurant style 3 meals a day with many options to choose from, and that's important for my dad! I met the Activity director who was friendly and shared her exciting calendar that engages residents, something my dad can truly benefit from! We passed the wellness office and I met one of the nurses who got up and just briefly chatted with me and I was so impressed that she offered concern and advice for my dad. I will definitely be moving my father into this community!

The Ivy at Watertown
The Ivy at Watertown is the perfect place. I would highly recommend them, in fact, we've got someone else who's moving in next week. The care services during the week are a 5/5, but on the weekend they are short-staffed. My relative needs assistance getting in his bed and pulling the covers up, but sometimes they don't come because they are busy with other people. He's also very weak and would like someone to walk him to his room, but they can't provide that because they don't have enough people. The staff, however, are very lovely caring people. The food is very good; my relative can't chew very well so sometimes the food is a little al dente, but he loves the variety. I think they had pork ribs today and he loves their pork ribs. They have such a good variety that sometimes I look at the menu to get an idea of what I should have supper. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy available if needed and open occupational therapy that you can go to in the gym. He goes to the music activities and most of the other stuff. There's a lot of things he does and some things he's too tired for. I think it's a fantastic and great place.

A Great Place for Mom
We love The Ivy. My mom was made to feel very welcome when she got there. They had some of the existing residents take her around and eat with her. And she says everybody is so friendly and nice. She really likes the food. There's a good variety, and she enjoys that they serve ice cream. The facility itself is beautiful. We looked at quite a few different places, and this was one of the better ones, and a good value comparatively.
