She accused me of trying to “put her in a home”. The isolation was havoc on her mental state. \nAfter 6 months of work she agreed to see it. Getting her out of the care was another fight. \n \nA very long story short. My mom had lived here for 9 months. She has become a different person. We are not fighting over not being able to leave work to take her shopping etc. [name removed] and the staff have been wonderful beyond my ability to express. They have become family. My mom knows she is home and never wants to leave. I can’t thank everyone enough. I am therefore very familiar with retirement centers in Tulsa so absolutely knew where I wanted to move to when the time came for me to do so - Southern Hills Retirement Center. I have been here for six months now and have found it to be every bit as good as I believed it to be. It's a very comfortable place, a homey place, the kind of place you can go to breakfast in your slippers and dressing gown if you wish. It's a small place so you don't get lost in the crowd. The residents are kind and caring - there is a real sense of community here. Likewise, the staff are very supportive of their residents - the facility Director and Activities Director can frequently be found doing evening rounds in the dining room, checking everyone is doing well, to ensure the wellbeing of their \"family\".
