Charm and Beauty * More Respect&Courtesy Please
Simpson House is beautiful. Olde Main offers a unique charm. Cornerstone boasts a more modern appearance and is more expensive. All in all courtesy and respect could be improved at Simpson. Perhaps some employees see little chance for advancement and feel stuck in their jobs. Concerns expreseed need to be taken seriously ,handled promptly. The excellent employees who go above and beyond need raises/ bonuses based on merit. At the least, they need commendations. The green box program needs to be revisited. It is a barrier and may not be sanitary. New sit down service for dinner is very good. Contributions by friends and family also need to be fairly acknowleged. A little appreciation goes a long way. Sometimes the opposite happens. No excuse for that. Landscaping is close to immaculate. There are many trees and lots of greenery. In order to truly flourish Simpson needs to build on its many strengths and be willing to be honest about areas that need improvement.

Because the size of Simpson House is relatively small, it is easy for both residents and staff to know each other. Both my husband and I had occasion to be in rehab here. We moved into independent living last March and each of us was in rehab this summer. The staff still follows my return to the community. They help wherever needed. Some have been here for 40 years! It is great having both medical staff and physical therapists on site. For most of us, we take planning activities and sharing experiences as an opportunity to help make Simpson House our own. It is also wonderful that our front yard is Fairmount Park.

My forever home
My husband and I are residents at Simpson House. The facility is spotless. The services offered with the residents, such as linen service and housekeeping, are excellent. The fact that this is a non-profit facility and on the smaller side of such facilities are both selling points. I would highly recommend the Simpson House to others.

Happy to be here
We love this community. This is an older community but it is kept up nice. They have activities like fitness work outs, chapel service, bible study and spiritual growth. They also have a couple movies offered a week, a Thursday social , arts and crafts, as well as van shopping trips. You can also join communities as much as you want to and be a part of different pieces of the community.

My review of SImpson House
We chose Simpson House because it is the one my mothers liked. It was closest to where she had been living and she wanted to stay in the main general area. The apartment sizes here are not bad, she has a small apartment with a separate bedroom and she likes that. The staff is very friendly, but they are not always very responsive. We could not physically help her move in and it took 8 months for them to get her internet working despite us calling them. When she first moved in she had to quarantine for 2 weeks and they sometimes forgot to bring her her meals. But overall I would recommend to others looking, my mom is happy here.

A Happy resident
My experience at Simpson House has exceeded my expectations. After four months of residency, I can really say nothing negative. It is extremely welcoming, and has a huge variety of activities from which one can choose. It is very clean, food choices are varied, plentiful, well prepared, and ingredients are fresh. Amenities include a chapel, movie theater, hair salon, exercise equipment, social rooms, large library, and many more. Health services are on site and a van takes you free of charge to local grocery stores. I heartily advise people looking for senior living to check out Simpson House.

Glad we chose Cornerstone at Simpson House
We moved from Center City Phila. 3 years ago and we made a good choice: spacious 2 bedroom 2 baths apartment, large living room, and balcony overlooking Fairmont Park. Important to me is the easy access to Center City via public tranportation or company Van. Neigbors have shared similar expriences (selling homes, moving, having new "neighbors," adjusting to communal living and dining). as well as March lockdown re Covid 19 have brought us all closer together. Staff and Management take excellent care of us, especially re Covid: facilities sanitized often; group activities & visitors cancelled; vaccinations (both shots) provided here! Available health care onsite and maybe our lessening ability to care for ourselves will make this move to Simpson House (Cornerstone bldg.) the absolutely right one for the [name removed].

A very happy camper
After four months of residency I can only state that my experience here at Simpson House has exceeded my greatest expectations. The atmosphere among fellow residents and staff is excellent, warm and welcoming. There is really no need to leave the facility for there is everything from hair care ,to gym facilities, a small theater, numerous common areas a very large magnificent library, and more than I can mention. There is also a free van service taking us out to various shopping areas on a weekly basis and also available For a reasonable fee,for trips to the airport or Center city etc. The food is varied and of good Quality using mostly fresh ingredients. I heartily recommend people looking for independent living going forward into skilled care or rehab to check out Simpson House.

Historic and Caring Home
I needed a safe place for my loved one. They are very caring and conscience of the residents on the memory care floor. There are plenty of activities. The community has a gym, dining room, and the community is near a park. The community provides great activities for memory care residents.

A sad Ending
In September2019 we contracted for an apt at Simpson House. We were told verbally and in writing that our deposit and improvement costs would be refunded in full if we decided to cancel. We had planned to sell our home first but they assured us that every penny would be refunded. When the COVID-19 appeared they extended our move in date 90 days hoping that the pandemic would be over. It wasn’t and in June 2020 we canceled the contract. We had invested $5152.60 in improvements which they refused to refund us. The sales staff and Director were extremely accommodating while we were in contract. They were gracious and responsive to our questions and concerns. As soon as the cancellation was signed they did not respond to any texts or phone messages asking for our refund. Now we have no choice but to litigate in order to receive our rightful due that they acknowledged verbally and in writing. It is very sad. We were thrilled to make Simpson House our new home. But we now know truly how poorly Simpson House’s Representitives respect senior needs. Please be wary of the sales staff’s presentation and be sure everything they say is committed to paper as we did.

Almost Awesome
Pretty landscaping. Park style setting and grand architecture make a stunning first impression. Under the beauty there are serious issues with safety and security both in house and throughout the outside property. Lights, cameras and 21st century security systems and procedures throughout would be helpful. Major emphasis is placed on a new building that is in process of being constructed. Lots of very nice residents. Lots of positives , room for improvement as well.

We Enjoyed The Tour
We got a great experience here. It is a very, very nice place and it is clean. I noticed the residents are in their late 80's to 90's. This was for a mature crowd but my dad is more independent. Overall, it was great and I actually would consider them but this is not the right fit for my dad's care.

Not good very moderate to severe dementias, especially any level of perceived aggressive behaviors.
They were not equipped in staff (training/numbers) to handle any irregular or episodic aggressive behaviors associated with Alzheimer's Dementia, even in the memory care wing. They were too quick to take my mom out personal care and migrate her into skilled care after 1 1/2 days of her move in, which, I thought was way too soon. If I would have known that there threshold to these sporadic behaviors was this thin, I would have never put my mom here in the first place. The activities were good, well run and regular and the overall nursing staff was friendly, but they clearly are only tolerant of very narrow niched behaviors associated with any of the dementias.
