As a nurse, I am aware of how important the staff are when placing your loved ones in their care. All the staff at Oakmont Folsom are friendly, caring, and kind. Each visit when I passed any staff—janitorial, maintenance, salon, caregivers, kitchen, and administration—I was greeted and made to feel welcome. I was able to ask for help even if not their specific responsibility and the need would be met. The caregivers would step in and go above and beyond to help with doctor’s appointments, lab tests, etc. I also learned a lot about caregiving for loved ones with dementia. Oakmont offers support classes, but their staff are experts, too. As our loved one declined and her husband also in the facility struggled, I felt supported during this trying time. This helped me spend quality time with my loved ones during their last months.
