<p>At Mary’s Care Home, we strive to create an attentive, welcoming home where those in our care become like family. It’s not uncommon for residents to stay for years — some have graced us with their presence for almost a decade! A long-term stay endorses the quality of care we’re able to provide, under the guidance of Mariana Oltean, owner and operator. She began her caregiving journey in 1997, leading her to open Mary’s Care Home in 2001 — an expansion into home care allowing a greater impact on residents, along with their families and friends. We’re located in the Salmon Creek neighborhood of Vancouver, an area of single-family homes adjacent to outdoor recreation hot spots, such as the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail.</p>
<p>Built in 1962 and most recently renovated in 2003, our home stands out from the rest. The Greek Revival architectural element of a covered front porch flanked by pillars lends the home a palatial appearance, while the tiled entryway adds to the elegance. Our signature pink exterior and sky blue doors contrast with the greenery of the yard and make for eye-catching curb appeal. The exterior pink tone is carried throughout the interior of the home, for a consistently warm effect. The manicured front lawn is bordered by mulched beds featuring compact bushes and pathway lights.</p>
<p>We welcome residents from all walks of life, aged 60 and above, and are dedicated to serving each person while maintaining their dignity and quality of life. You’ll find our convenient visiting hours provide ample time for socializing with outside friends and family.</p>
<h3>Living Options and Amenities</h3>
<p>There are a range of rooms readily furnished for you to move into — just bring clothes, photos of loved ones, and memories to share. We have six private rooms with amenities such as cable TV, Wi-Fi, climate control, and resident parking. Bathrooms are complete with accessibility features for the comfort and ease of our residents with different levels of mobility. Our showers are roll-in and include a chair to eliminate concerns of slipping while washing up. Toilets have raised seats and railings for safety and stability, and private bath options are available. Also, your favorite furry friend doesn’t have to just pop by for a visit — pets can stay in your home with you!</p>
<h3>Dining</h3>
<p>We provide three home-cooked meals each day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be readily prepared for you, so you don’t have to busy yourself in the kitchen. Snacks are offered to satisfy between-meal appetites. Enjoy your meal with the company of friends at our traditional dining room table, where we gather to catch up about our days and break bread together. You may also choose to dine in the quiet privacy of your own room. Feel free to let us know your dietary preferences and needs, as we can switch up our meals to accommodate specific requests, including:

<p>Common areas inside and outside of our home are kept meticulously clean. Tidiness is an important part of maintaining safety and accessibility, along with features such as hallway railings and thoughtfully appointed spaces to allow ease of navigation for residents of all levels of mobility. Our reading room is a favorite space for passing the afternoon while turning the pages of a good book. Step outside into our quaint, fenced-in backyard where the crisp, green lawn is framed by a symmetrical border of dark brown mulch and planted foliage. The fence and full trees around the yard create a comforting sense of seclusion. A set of comfortable patio furniture sits under a broad umbrella, inviting residents to relax and take in the private park-like yard. Our property includes a secure perimeter to prevent wandering beyond the safety of our community.</p>
<h3>Activities</h3>
<p>We recognize the importance of keeping minds and bodies engaged in everyday life, so we facilitate a range of activities depending on the interests of our residents. Exercise is encouraged to promote mental and physical well-being, and to maintain mobility for a higher quality of life. Arts and crafts time offers our residents a chance to express their creative side and socialize with each other around a common pursuit. We’ll throw great birthday parties sure to make the day special – just ask our residents! Our staff also coordinates off-site outings, with transportation provided, for involvement in the happenings around Vancouver.</p>

<p>Our staff is prepared to offer you a variety of services that take the drudgery out of day-to-day routines, opening up your time to do more of what you enjoy. The snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Range create a scenic backdrop visible from many parts of the city. Beer enthusiasts can tap into the ever-growing craft brewery scene, as local breweries introduce small batches and innovative atmospheres. Fort Vancouver National Historic Site immerses visitors in the past — learning about the hub of Pacific Northwest’s military activity and fur trade is brought to life through hands-on activities, reconstructed buildings, and an 1800s-period garden. The fort lies along the Columbia River Renaissance Trail, a flat, paved path that connects downtown Vancouver to several parks and points of interest with sprawling, picturesque views of its namesake river. The local Parks and Recreation department coordinates a variety of activities for seniors, including group travel, a 50+ Forever Young hiking club, and social events at community centers. We’re less than two miles from the Hazel Dell Towne Center, where you can do a little afternoon shopping and follow up with dinner at one of a few restaurants. Lodging is sprinkled around the city, with a Holiday Inn Express less than a 10-minute drive from our home. Loved ones of residents can rest easy knowing that Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is a short three-mile drive from our home in case of emergency.</p>
<h3>Medical Care</h3>
<p>Our staff is trained and ready to assist in a variety of medical needs. Because of our small community size, residents receive regular attention to their overall well-being, so our staff is quick to recognize a shift in behavior or ability. With medication management, we help ensure proper dosage and adherence to the schedule of prescribed treatments, including routines in diabetic care. Assistance with bladder and bowel incontinence is offered in a compassionate manner. Staff can perform transfer assistance to shift those in need to various positions and locations around the house. Hospice service is also available for end-of-life care. We enlist the services of visiting medical professionals to provide additional ongoing attention to the specialized needs of our residents. Bringing specialists into our home removes the strain of traveling to an unfamiliar location for care. Visiting professionals may include:
