Excellent Living at Laurelwood
My aunt lived at Laurelwood for 4 1/2 years first in a unit for Independent Living and at age 100 in Avita. Laurelwood provided her with an excellent quality of life. The staff were friendly, respectful, and caring. Her initial unit near the gazebo was beautiful. Their bus took her and other residents to Mass and on many outings. I should mention that this was pre-COVID. She was introduced to painting both on the second floor and in Avita and she produced the most gorgeous paintings. She attended many activities in both settings--singalongs, crafts, movies, bingo, parties, and performances. In the words of my son, "This feels like a cruise ship!" I highly recommend Laurelwood to people looking for independent living, assisted living and/or memory care. The level of care can change as one's needs change.

Laurelwood Gives Me Peace of Mind
The staff is very nice. I feel reassured that my loved one is safe, has people to talk to, and things to do. Some of the activities include yoga, movies, games, happy hour, field trips, and more for the residents to choose from. The community has transportation to mass services, and doctor appointments, along with more. My loved one loves the food. The staff have been great to work with if I have questions or concerns.

Beautiful facility, but care services could be improved
Our loved one was only there temporarily for respite care, and our first impression was positive, it is very clean and upscale. They were very positive when trying to get our loved one in there, once he was fully moved in their ability to take care of him was not what they had advertised. I wish they would of been more upfront with the initial evaluation as well as the services he was going to require.

Very welcoming community
Before COVID they had day trips to go shopping, go out to lunch, and to the beach. They had movie presentations, games, and outdoor social events. My aunt thinks the food is wonderful, high quality, and fresh. The only complaint is there is just to much of it. They have a variety of rooms to choose from. She has a one bedroom that is very spacious, its very beautiful. The studio apartments are very well laid out as well. The overall look is not institutional, it looks like a condo building. It sits on nice property. The inside of this community is very clean, it feels like a home. The staff is very friendly, we knew this would be a great place for my aunt. They have kept up great communication during COVID, always keeping us up to date. So far no residents have had COVID!

This place is absolutely beautiful. But do not judge a book by its cover. They will wine and dine you and tell you everything you want to hear to get you to sign on the dotted line in order to have your loved one move in. We were introduced to the chef on one of our 1st visits and were told that they would be all kinds of wonderful meals for my mom. She was in the memory care unit and every time I went to visit her she was having a cold Turkey sandwich on white bread. There were no activities. Getting her hair done was a rarity, even though we asked about it weekly. There were no outings or even walks. Excuses were given for everything from the cleanliness of the apartment to meals. Staff changed weekly. The front desk manager was a nightmare. She would often discuss our bills with us at the front lobby or parking lot with other people around. And yes..we paid monthly. On time. It's all about the money here. You will nickled and dimed every month. This place is pretty (not in Memory Care)...but that's all you're paying for....appearance.

Just say no
My review is for Avita the memory care unit within Laurelwood. If there was a way to rate the sales people they would get a five. They sold us a wonderful place where our mother would be safe and well cared for. She would have opportunity to go to church at least once a week and have her hair and nails (so very important!)groomed weekly. She would have activities that would challenge her and delicious meals, her laundry would be done and room cleaned with bed made each morning. What we actually bought residents sitting in the living room watching a constant stream of movies, church - very rarely ([Name removed] the activities director explained they often did not have enough aids to go with them. Hair nails and other niceties never. The food is mediocre at best. Room cleaned when house keeping had time. Never vacuumed as they never had time. I purchased a vacuum to keep in her room so I could vacuum. I clean her bathroom every time I go visit. There was so much dost on flat surfaces I needed two swingers! Laundry - there is no rhyme or reason to how it is done (or not done). Often her laundry basket is overflowing clearly having not been done in days. When it is done it is returned with items missing and other residents clothing mixed in. Once mixed in with her clean clothes was another residents very soiled night gown. There are too many fabulous places on the south shore for our parents to live don’t pay these exorbitant prices for less than fabulous. I suggest the [removed]

Please don't let your loved one live in Avita.
My review is of Avita, which is the memory care unit within Laurelwood. My mother was a resident for approximately five months. It is clean and the people are friendly that is where the great stops. The sales people do a wonderful job and you think your loved one will spend days involved in creative actives specifically designed for memory care issues, have fabulous meals, religious services available, grooming and other needs. Not true!

Wonderful place
I was a resident in Respite Care this Fall after a serious operation. I absolutely loved my stay at Laurelwood. The facility is beautiful and very clean. More importantly, the staff is great - kind, friendly, courteous, efficient and professional. The staff and residents were very welcoming. There are always fun and interesting activities going on, geared for seniors. You are able to participate as much or as little as you desire. I cannot recommend this facility highly enough! It was wonderful!

Impressive Community
My sister, and I am very impressed with this community. My father is doing well since his move, and we know he is in good hands. The staff is amazing, and they are taking very good care of him, and needs. They provide a great, vibrate environment for their residents. Everyone in this community is very kind, and friendly. It is such an amazing facility my sister, and I would live here our self's. We would highly recommend this community, it has worked out well for our family.

We I chose Laurelwood for our retirement needs.
If you asked why we chose Laurelwood at the Pine Hills, I think this adequately describes the process. We isolated our needs: * We needed to be near our medical support system—BID-Plymouth. * We needed an independent situation that would transition into assisted living. * We needed a memory care unit on the premises. * We needed to find a place that would be cheerful, bright and not depressing on the assumption that for us the next few years might be the most important as my spouse will be able to participate. * We needed to be in a “rural” environment where we could feel a community outside the facility and enjoy the out-of-doors. * We needed to be no farther from our kids. * We needed to be near the very large and caring community of church and friends. * And finally, we needed a facility where our values were shared— essentially things should be done right, people must be treated with caring and respect, programs should be creative and stimulating, options should be numerous, etc. 2. We visited (true, nearly 2 to 3 years ago) everything in a radius of 50 miles that met the majority of our needs. 3. We found all facilities visited (including but not limited to) Linden Ponds, Wingate and the Villages at Duxbury (where most folks go from our area) to have wonderfully dedicated staff and much to offer. However, none filled all our needs but Laurelwood. 4. We came to the conclusion to rent at Laurelwood, and not to buy, as offered at other facilities. It was the better choice for us. 5. I became involved with Laurelwood a few years before their construction. It quickly became obvious to me, that this was the place for us. They made us feel wanted. They kept in touch. They were flexible in helping to meet our needs. They were always professional. They have become friends! Bottom line, I could not visualize us any other place. This business of getting old is difficult. Getting old with heath issues is even more daunting. I would be crazy not to admit that I am scared, but I feel safe/secure in our decision.

Relaxed luxury
Laurelwood opened last year in beautiful Pine Hills, in Plymouth, MA. The facility is stunning - open spaces full of light with great views, skylights, patios, etc. All of it in pristine condition, this is, quite simply, a lovely environment. The staff I have interacted with are all pleasant and proactively attentive to the residents. If you're an entertainer, as I am, you can quickly evaluate a facility by how happy its residents are. The folks here would get a very high score indeed... smiling and relaxed, singing along with every song, a very positive environment. Laurelwood is brand new, top shelf and above all, comfortable. An easy place to love.

Be careful
A lovely expensive hotel with lots of amenities for those who aren't able to be out & about in the community on their own Courteous staff with the exception of the resident care director. A distinct lack of communication & empathy. Strictly an administrative paper, pen & phone person. Major objectives appear to be legal self protection & income. Don't expect her to go out her way to accommodate you or your loved one. If you anticipate a need for assistance with medical care or help other than dressing & housekeeping, best look else. Poor coordination of services. Many, many problems. Too numerous to recount
