Happy with our choice. They took a tough situation and made it better.
Most of the residents at Ivy Springs, are here due to age, but my wife is here due to a deteriorating terminal condition. It requires more attention and I feel that the caregivers are doing a great job of caring for her.

Check everything before you commit
The communication is not good at all. To be fair, they were transitioning a lot of positions at the time we moved in. However, it was not communicated to us that they did NOT have a Physical Therapist contracted to work, so my loved one lost ALL of her month long progress from her rehab facility after her stroke. Some of the nurses were real and amazing, but too many didn't know how to treat an elderly person with respect and dignity and about treating them like an actual human being. The move in process was easy, they have a hotel dolly to help. Our loved one actually needed Memory Care, but when we moved in they insisted that she was AL. Low and behold, she needed Memory Care and they put her in theirs. Well, Ivy Springs Memory Care was for extreme cases and they went through sun downing drastically. My loved one was traumatized by the couple of days she was in there. Overall, this facility did not work out for us and we had to move her to a place more suitable for her.
If I had to list the reasons for leaving, they would be:
1. Low functioning and traumatic Memory Care
2. Lack of communication/misleading communication
3. Less than friendly nursing staff (not all, but a couple of the ones she interacted with)
4. Lack of a physical therapy program
5. Deterioration of my loved one's physical status.

Dad's new home
What a great experience! From the beginning, every interaction has been fantastic. Rachel Wilson has been amazing to work with. The service I and Dad have experienced from all of the staff is far above what we expected, and their pricing is lower than other assisted living facilities in the area. The property is lovely and looks new, plus the daily activities are awesome! Also they have different 'care levels' to fit what will be needed in the future. I'm grateful that Ivy Springs is where Dad now calls home!

What sticks out most about the Retreat at Buford is the staff members, they are always very attentive and accessible when needed. The lobby area of the facility is very nice which is why we chose this facility initially. I would recommend Retreat at Buford to others looking.

Honestly, the biggest win for us has been the staff, and how much they have gone out of their way to make my aunt feel loved, included, and special. The friendliness of the staff gets 6 stats!!! They truly treat her like family and have gotten her involved in things that she would have never done in 1 million years! I would absolutely recommend Community to anybody looking!

This facility is great, I really don't have any complaints. My mom has been doing much better since she got here. She didn't want to come at first, but she's a lot more like herself than she was before we brought her here. I've tried the food and it's pretty good. They have a lot of good activities, though mom chooses not to participate in them. Housekeeping and Laundry are once a week and they're doing a good job with those. They definitely stay on top of collecting trash, also. Communication with the family is good. They're great about listening to suggestions from loved one's. Mom has a large room here that fits all of her furniture, as well as her own bathroom and little kitchenette area. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Peace of Mind and Highly Recommended
Overall, it has been a great experience for us. The staff have gone above and beyond for our family and our loved one. The staff communication with the family has been great, and they are prompt in responding to our questions.
There are three meals a day served to the residents. There are activities for the residents to participate in, if they want.

We went with The Retreat at Buford because of convenience of the location as well as the cleanliness of the facility and friendly staff, it was just an overall good feeling that we got from the place during our tour experience. My mom absolutely loves it here and is doing great. She speaks highly of the staff members. It has been a good experience and we would recommend the community to other families who are looking.

My review of The Retreat at Buford
Our loved one was only there for a few months and during his stay The Retreat did a beautiful job. The staff were very attentive and seemed to really love my husband. My husband kept everyone very entertained with all of his stories. When we got sick they let me come stay with him, they provided me with breakfast, lunch and dinner which was very nice, i really appreciated that. We were so pleased with the care he received. The med tech during the day would call me with any updated during the pandemic, and when the residents had to be locked down I was able to stand outside a window and talk through the screen. I would highly recommend them to others.

The Retreat is a nice place
Even though the activities were limited they still put in a lot of effort to have things from time to time. Our loved one really enjoys the food, and she really likes the staff members. We would recommend this community to others.

Limited experience due to COVID
From what our loved one says, the food is not good and they are having their meals delivered to their rooms due to COVID. The only activity we do know they had were bingo. We do know some of care takers take really good care of our loved one. The ladies at the front desk are awesome, they always answer our questions and help out our loved one.

a sad change of events
prior to the management change, it was great, after the change, the communication has been terrible and, they do not return phone calls.
We had an incident where my mom called and said there was an issue, and we called the emergency line and no one answered. We drove there and no one ever came to the or answered the phone. Their response was we are having an issue with that phone.
I would not recommend this facility.

My mother has resided here for three and a half years. We cannot say enough about it nor can she. The staff is attentive and loving to the residents and their families. We feel very blessed to have our loved one in such a wonderful facility.

A great place for dad
We chose The Retreat at Buford because of the location of the facility to my residence so I was able to visit my dad more often and if he needed anything I was right there. Also it was not as big so it was not as overwhelming. The 1 on 1 individualized attention he got was great due to the smaller amount of residents. They had been going through a lot of management changes and I feel like it was better when we first got there. They took excellent care of him but could have encouraged him to participate a little bit more. I would recommend the facility.

A Great Place for Mom
I love them and have nothing but good things to say. They do have activities but they are very limited due to COVID. My loved one doesn't participate in a lot of the activities.
This is a good place for assisted living and memory care. I believe this is all they do. They are very attentive.

We have been happy with the response to covid, food services, laundry, and quick response of staff assistance. We have used the facetime visits and appreciate all the activities planned and provided on the center’s calendar. We of course are excited for when they will get off of lockdown and we are able to visit our family member and take him places. We are thankful the staff has kept his spirits up and encouraged him to be active.
