Short but positive experience
We had a history with the facility- my parents had stayed there for years under the prior management. My brothers stay at Heritage was abruptly shorter than planned due to health complications. The staff was very reasonable about the transition and billing.

About the facility
Heritage Valley Senior Living Community

Heritage Valley Senior Living Community is located in the beautiful McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. This Community offers a personal care residence, a memory care neighborhood, and independent living for seniors; allowing seniors to transition to different levels of service on one campus. Our goal is to provide the residents with every day needs, but still let them maintain their independence. We believe that social interaction helps those with dementia have a subject to focus on, other than the disease that they are fighting. If your loved one gets sick, we offer confidential services that help the individual with everyday functions. From cleaning to bathing, we know the importance of keeping things discreet. Sometimes things happen that the client has no control over, we understand that. We have many amenities available to our residents. An on-site salon is available for those who wish to look their best. We have a Friends and Family Card Room that offers guests to enjoy a hand of Rummy if that is what they choose. We know that deciding where your loved one will live is a tough call to make, but that is why we are here. We are here to help our guests whatever...

We toured this community. We found that the staff was nice and able to answer the questions we had on the care that is given here. The community is clean and we liked the atmosphere. The menu of the healthy meals was appealing and they had a lot of nice activities that would be offered to my mom. We would recommend this community for the care and the value that is offered here to other families.

OK facility but very run down and dirty looking. It is approximately 13 years old and looks every bit of it. The room we were shown was very dark and uninviting. Furniture I had in my college dorm was in better condition.

Visited on April 29th. Really liked the facilities and the amenities are very good. This is the top runner because of proximity to Crafton and her doctors.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Pennsylvania’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Pennsylvania’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Heritage Valley Senior Living Community 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
