Caring staff. Resident apartments cleaning not as promised.
Cleaning of residents apartments is sub-par. Even though the administrator states they do, the cleaning service they employ does no dusting, no cleaning mirrors, no bed sheet changing. It appears that all they do is sweep and vacuum the floors. The staff who have direct contact with the residents however are very nice, friendly and caring of each individual and their needs.

Heritage Middleton review
I moved my dad from that facility to one in [facility removed]where I live, almost 2 years ago, because my dad did not like it. The rooms were too small and the entire locked unit was too small. It was really noisy and dirty. I would not recommend that facility for anyone.

Dementia care unit not in compliance
Hoping to move mother into dementia unit when she needed extra help. But they could not take her because of compliance issues. She lived in assisted living for several years and we were told moving her to dementia unit would not be issue. After learning about compliance issues I would not have kept her there anyway. Very disappointing.
False advertising / unethical marketing practices if you ask me.

Management in complete meltdown
Complete turnover in staff, management. Unable/unwilling to care for family member’s basic dementia issues. Memory care unit not accepting patients due to staffing and management problems. Decisions are run from corporate office - not by local medical staff.

Our families experience
Heritage Middleton is an awesome facility, it is very clean and beautiful with very nice people. We really appreciated how much they were willing to work with our friend and accommodating her larger dog - so that was great. When we come to visit we do see different activities going on. There are different parties, musicians, and movie days with popcorn. We were able to have a meal at Thanksgiving and it was fantastic. The nursing staff has been very patient with her which we appreciate, and one person in particular [name removed] is always very professional and respectful with his communication with us.

We decided on Heritage Middleton over other facilities mainly because they do take Medicare once the money runs out and we knew that would be an issue for my loved one. Overall based off of our experience, I would recommend this facility to others.

Very pleasant staff, but could have used more staff. When bathroom floor was dirty around toilet, it seemed to take until the next day to be cleaned. Husband was there during COVID, so activities weren't going on. Price seemed reasonable.

Majority of the staff was very friendly, but when it came to memory care and our loved ones health it was just not the right place for them. Overall the staff was always friendly and kind, but one nurse in particular was rude and very impatient with the residents, but there was some staff that was especially kind and caring were [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed]. When it came to memory care they wanted a quick fix, when what was needed was a little one-on-one time, patience, and a distraction. Meals always looked good and mom usually cleaned her plate. Not enough to keep the residents occupied/entertained. It would have been great for them to tell a story, read a book, sing songs, ask questions, etc. If there had been more activities planned and if the staff was better trained to work with memory care patients, it would have been better.

Our loved one is very unhappy there - all of the activities they were interested in were cancelled. Also they have continued to come into our loved ones room at a certain time after we have repeatedly told them if nothing is wrong to please come at a different time and it has not happened

Well Maintained Community and Wonderful Staff
This is a beautiful community. They are currently understaffed. The food has been inconsistent in flavor and quality. The staff are friendly, corporative to work with, and want to make it the best place it can be.
There is light housekeeping, linen changes, laundry service, and meals that are included in the monthly fee. The community seems to be well maintained, and maintenance towards the resident's requests seem to be prompt.
Crafts, exercise, flower arranging, library, private rooms for celebrations and more are some of the activities available for the residents to choose from.

We did a virtual tour with Heritage Middleton. We were thinking about this facility, but the 2 bedroom apartment that we were wanting actually got taken while we were considering it and the price here was also higher than some others we saw, so we did not choose them.

Quality care
We chose Heritage Middleton because of the friendliness of the staff members, quality of the care, as well as affordability. The room sizes here are average compared to other facilities that we looked into. I would want others to know that the director is an RN which I thought was nice, they were well staffed day and night, and the admissions director was very helpful. We did have hospice care here and the transition was very smooth. I would recommend.

I think that the management at Heritage Middelton has been stable and communicative and they do a good job. My mom is in memory care. The room sizes and layout of the community are excellent. They have secured outdoor space for the memory care residents.

Safe place for mom
The location is very convenient for my family. It has adequate parking spaces and a loading dock in the back leading to a freight elevator which made moving her furniture and things in really easy. There is a great little shopping plaza behind the facility that the residents can safely walk to. My mom is very relieved to be living there. It really is the safest place for her right now. They allow pets which is nice. My mom is a professional artist and they allow the residents to offer classes in the activity department and share their skills with other residents.

You're Out when your Money Runs Out
Pretty is as pretty does, so no matter how pretty the property, consider the integrity of the owner and executive director. They have a right to their terms, but not to lie about them or change them later.
Our 87-year-old friend was told that if she private-paid 6 months, Heritage would keep her when she went on Medicaid. The promise was oral, made by former executive director and witnessed by current sales director.
They don't dispute the promise was made, but, as Milo Pinkerton, owner, says: "A promise is not a promise unless it is written."
Our friend is evicted after spending her life savings at Heritage.Their promises are as bogus as their slogan: "We treat residents like family; trust us with your loved one."

We do have a limited number of Medicaid units, which are in high demand, and some Medicaid providers are unable to cover the cost of our care. The facility was large, beautiful and well-kept. Residents and staff all seemed happy and engaged us in conversation. We were there at lunch time so there was a lot of activity going on. The memory care area seemed large - I don't recall the number of residents. There was an odd smell only in this area and I'm not sure what it was - lunch, cleaning supplies or urine?
