I loved having my mom there. The place is definitely not new. It doesn't have any bells and whistle's. The food is decent but the staff and the care that they will give your mom, or dad is worth every penny you pay. I always knew my mom was loved and well taken care of. Like I said, it old

We live in Canada so we were not able to visit regularly. The owner of Heather House, would call us regularly to provide updates on our sister. They would arrange transportation for doctor appointments as well as have a staff member attend the appointment and call us with results. Sister was well cared for. Activities and exercises, 3 season room/ lounge area that faced a forest, green space. Sister had slight dementia, so was well aware of her living situation. She was happy at Heather House.

My Tour Experience
I was not thrilled with them. They didn't have 24-hour nursing on staff, which was a biggie for us. They had a nurse there when I was there - one nurse to care for 8 people living there. There were no televisions in the bedrooms. So all the residents had to come out to the common room to watch TV, which would have been hard for my loved one. The woman running the home was very nice. But it was very old. It felt as was as if I myself simply brought people into my older home to care for them. I just felt like my loved one needed more care than that. It might be a lovely place, but I just didn’t have a good feeling.

took a tour earlier this year (2018) along with their other facility which was not too far. Arrived about dinner time at the first one and then went over to the second home. They are more of a home living situations and not a facility. There were only a few residents actually in residence at this time. There was less activity available other than to watch TV, read or play some table games or puzzles. Much too far away from where I live or work. Not the setting where my mother would thrive. The owner and the main attending caregiver have passion for what they do, but the locations were hilly and I don't think mom would be safe trying to navigate her rollator as result of fractured hip (most recently) around the property. If you are looking for a country setting, these may be the right fit for someone.

Heather House Personal Care offers Private and Semi-Private. Learn more.

A Place for Mom has scored Heather House Personal Care 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
