Our experience with First Choice Senior Living
My sister and I were a little disappointed that we heard nothing from the owner (with whom we had both been in contact several times) upon our father's passing less than 2 weeks from moving in. The care staff there at the home was always very kind and accommodating.

Do not recommend
The woman at the facility are not trained enough. They are not strong enough to use the lift and they dropped my mother so I do not recommend this place at all and they also had no patience with her because she got up in the night and needed medicine they want everyone down throughout the whole night on meds so they don't have to be bothered, another patient who was younger wanted to leave with me and begged and pleaded with me to get her out of there. It broke my heart.

Definitely Would NOT Recommend
First Choice Senior Living is a very shady place. They made many promises they did not follow through on. There are only two bathrooms in the house, one of which is in the master bathroom that was assigned to my loved ones. When I moved them in, we were told that was their private room and bathroom, which turned out not to be the case. Other people ended up using their bathroom. We were told they would have full roam of the house. They were just not allowed to leave the premises. But the facility was not properly secure, and one of my family members managed to wander out. He told me he was being locked in his room when I was not there, which at first I thought was just paranoia due to dementia. But when I was there one time, I noticed an employee tying a cord around the door handle. So it turns out he was telling the truth. They were tying his door shut after I leave. They were drugging my other family member so much that she was just a babbling fool when I would come to visit. They said they were having a hard time getting her to take her medications, so they put them in her drink. Which I was only told AFTER I tasted it and discovered how strongly it tasted of whatever it was they had put in it. They were WAY overdosing in case she only took a few sips. Even though she only had mild dementia, they blamed her overmedicated state on her dementia. Now that I've gotten her out of there and on proper medications, she is coherent again. They also did not tell me before move-in that I was required to be my loved ones' Power of Attorney. I believe they only had me put that in place because they said they were cited for not having POAs in place for the residents. The type of POA they told me to get turned out not to be the right one, so I had to get a different one. I would not recommend them to anybody. My loved ones are doing MUCH better now in a different community.

Worst home-care facility ever
They dropped my mother because they are not trained. The caretaker women that he has working in the home are too old now. They are not trained at all, and they are very unfriendly. They basically take naps during the day and have no interaction or activities with the patients. The patients are sitting there bored and lonely. I even had one resident begging to leave, she was pleading and crying. They stuck her in a room so I couldn't hear her anymore. They shouldn't be caregivers, they should be closed down. They dropped mom from the Hoyer lift because they didn't know how to use it properly. They don't know basic care taking techniques. It's the worst place ever, her leg has not been the same since. I did meet the owner and he refunded the money, but mom was still bruised. In regards to the food, I say absolutely not. They gave my mom hard-as-a-rock carrots and potatoes, I couldn't even smash them with a fork. They expected herself and other residents to eat that. They then made soup which consisted of just broth. The entire place was just absolutely horrible.

A Place for Mom has scored First Choice Senior Living 2 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
