Our experience after eight years has be wonderful.
Upon retirement, we looked at various long-term care facilities within our community. The location and the updated facilities at Falcons Landing are impressive. The food and service are excellent. We were impressed with the mix of single home units and high-rise apartments. We were glad that pets were welcome, that Falcons had excellent work-out facilities and available side walk areas. Activities of every type are available within the community such as games, arts and crafts, and a variety of entertainment on the big ballroom screen . Within our community, stage and TV productions are available to all. Chapel Services are available for all religious faiths. Transportation to entertainment throughout the Washington metro area is available at no extra cost. Our health care facilities include resident physicians, nursing care, assistance living, and a separate dementia facility. All of this provides us a life style to keep us entertained and physically healthy.

This is the perfect place
There is no doubt in my mind that Falcons Landing was the right choice for me after my husband passed away. Having been here over two years now, I can objectively state that nothing anywhere in life is perfect, but Falcons Landing certainly has minimized any small nits that can be picked. The community, both outside and in, is beautiful. And, it is expertly maintained, both outside and in. Staff members are professional, caring, careful, accessible in a moment, and friendly always. Meals are delicious, with many regularly-changed choices and several venues, as well as options for delivery. The gym and pool are spacious and well-equipped, with expert trainer assistance. In addition, there are always myriad social, sporting, arts, etc., activities, covering just about any interest area you can name. I couldn't ask for more or be happier than I am here at Falcons Landing.

Comfort in Community
My husband and I moved into Falcons Landing a year ago. We are in our late 70s and are still healthy and active. We were immediately made to feel welcome in the community. While we enjoy the active social life, we also value our privacy. Falcons Landing allows for both. We have especially enjoyed the beautiful pool, the well-furbished and well-staffed gym, the tennis court, and the lovely landscaping. Algonkian Park is nearby for golf and long walks. Indoors, there are countless activities. The best of the best is the food. It is superb. We have not yet needed the nursing facilities, but we feel so comfortable knowing that we will be cared for when the time comes. Our children our especially happy that they don't need to worry about us.

Good choice for this phase
We decided that living on an acre of land, with massive oak trees, nearly 100 azaleas, and numerous other plantings, plus a 5000 square foot home was not the best choice at our age. After doing a lot of research, we found Falcons Landing in Potomac Falls, Virginia

Could Not Live at a Better Place
My husband and I made our choice to move to Falcons Landing 7 years ago after looking at many Senior Living facilities in the Washington DC area.. The beautiful campus, small but all-encompassing size of the CCRC, proximity to shopping and the variety of housing units were prime motivators in our selection. Since coming here, the congeniality of the residents and staff and the abundance and variety of social activities has put a Gold Star stamp on our selection.

Common Bonds, Extraordinary Living
Falcons Landing is a sophisticated, well-maintained, forward-looking, long-term care community. Also, Falcons Landing takes advantage of numerous cultural opportunities in Washington, D.C. I have lived here for 8 years. My husband and I lived 3 1/2 years in a cottage. For mobility reasons, we moved to a lovely apartment in the main building. Here there is a chapel, lovely dining rooms, the ballroom. For maintaining healthy living, there is a gym, exceptional indoor pool, a rehabilitation center and wellness center. Pleasant meeting rooms, a library , card room and craft room are in constant use. We have used all the health-care facilities. We were very satisfied with the professionalism of staff and quality of care in short-term care, long-term care and memory center facilities. As a widow now, my children and I are confident I will receive the best possible care until the end of my life. Residents and staff are the crowning glory of Falcons Landing.

Exceeded expections to date
Moved in about 2 months ago from a large property in Loudoun County. There was a surprising amount of storage space. The food in the dining facilities is varied and excellent...much better than we expected. But the thing that truly exceeds expectations is the friendliness and welcoming nature of everyone who lives here. The setting is not typical; the varied architecture of the facilities makes Falcons Landing look more like real community than any kind of institution.

Wonderful place to live
My wife and I have been residents of Falcons Landing for 16 months. We love it here. It is a very social and active community. The residents here are friendly, welcoming, outgoing and have an incredible variety of life accomplishments and experiences. It is easy to get involved. We have become much more social than we were before we moved in. The food is wonderful. It is of high quality, ample size servings, and good variety. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment is newly refurbished, spacious, and lovely with living room, dining room, den, modern up to date kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms. Both bathrooms have showers which is unique to Falcons compared to other CCRCs we looked at.

Falcons Landing as My Home
Coming to Falcons Landing was the best decision I ever made. The socializing and camaraderie are its primary strength. Most of us have a military background and sharing our experiences with like-minded colleagues, including a good number having senior level government civilians, establishes a common bond which is greatly cherished. More activities are available than any one person do. The fitness center is excellent as well as the pool. The dining experience is varied, superb, and has been compared with being on a cruise ship which never gets underway. Maintenance and housekeeping keep everything top-notch. Health care includes Assistant Living, Skilled Nursing, and Dementia care, as needed. We're here for life and enjoying it thoroughly.

Final Place to Live
After my wife passed, I decided I needed to move to a CCRC. I visited many and I was able to narrow down the selection by comparing the maintenance status of the facility, the availability of health care, the quality of the meals, and the friendliness of the staff and residents. Falcons Landing was by far the best of all the places I checked. Prior to my move in, the maintenance staff completely reworked my duplex. New appliances, new paint, completely new bathrooms and kitchen, flooring, and painting. The move in was a wonderful experience. The dining staff had even placed 7 lunches for the movers in the fridge. The maintenance staff met me and walked through and made sure everything was perfect. Within days of moving in new neighbors brought by cookies and brownies and welcomed me to Falcons Landing. I have enjoyed my time here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and inclusive. There are many activities and you can be as busy as you desire. Love this place.

A Place for All
I moved here just before COVID. They were great! Brought us food, did shopping and kept us safe. How I would have been outside I don't know. Everyone has been very friendly. I find I am on the younger side but everyone is so active and interesting you don't realize ages. There are activities from Bridge to Backpack Buddies (filling bags with food for elementary school kids). From Great Decisions to exercise classes and everything in between. There is a dining room, cafe and Compass Club which is a cross between coffee shop, bar and meeting place. The food is fantastic and the coffee is great. Come, talk to a few people and move in!

Wonderful
Falcons Landing addresses all phases of aging. Because of this there is a calmness in knowing there will be support in the future. Each section of the comfort at Falcons can be looked at separately: Social -- what a wonderful group of friends and activities; Meals -- the best chef in Loudoun County; and Medical -- backup is onsite.

Care and maintenance of big home was getting beyond me but I dragged my feet in solving problem. Once completing clean out and move, which was made much more difficult because of my foot dragging, my life significantly changed (for the better). I was immediately freed of all the worry and work. Life at Falcons Landing is simply great, Great apartment, great facilities, great staff, great neighbors and friends and great dining. Zero complaints. Should have moved here several years earlier.

FALCONS LANDING - THE BEST OF THE BEST1
Falcons Landing, located in Sterling, Virginia, is the finest of Continuing Care Retirement Communities on the map! From the day we arrived, we were welcomed by residents and staff as though we were family. The camaraderie and support available on campus provides an incomparable peace of mind — invaluable to residents as well as families of residents. The residential units (cottages, apartments and terrace homes) are cleaned weekly and are all top-notch! Meals at the Grand Dining Room and Woodburn Cafe are equal to those of many 4-and 5-star restaurants; and pick-up service is available for those who prefer to eat at home. Home delivery is provided when necessary . The Falcons Landing campus is gorgeous, and the living units are beautiful inside and out. The many activities available keep residents as active as they’d like to be, physically, mentally and emotionally. We have thoroughly enjoyed every day since we moved here, and look forward to each coming day!

More than pleased with our move to Falcons Landing
My wife and I moved from Colorado Springs to Falcons Landing three months ago into a 2,017 square foot single unit cottage with a two-car garage. Before choosing Falcons Landing, we visited eight Life Plan Communities, two in Virginia and six in Colorado Springs. We had high expectations and they were met. The cottage had been completely renovated to include granite, bathrooms, appliances, floor coverings, windows, roof, deck, and garage doors. The community was most welcoming and the staff was helpful without being obsequious. Their three restaurants have creative menus and the meal plan has an excellent financial structure. I have had five meals with different cuts of beef and they have been the most tender and juicy I've ever tasted. I found that they have an oven which uses a combination of steam and convection and a pre-programmed cooking feature called Cook/Hold/Mature - innovation at work. Their activities program is imaginative and varied.

Why I came to Falcons Landing
I came to Falcons Landing because my husband, who was dying of inoperable brain cancer, needed nursing care. We had him at 3 hospitals, 1 rehab center and 1 year at home when he was bedridden. His caregiver became untrustworthy, so I had to find a place where he was assured of good care. With recommendations from church friends I found Falcons Landing's Johnson Ctr. to give him a wonderful atmosphere. I was persuaded to also move into part of a duplex house at Falcons. My husband had 3 "sweet" months at Johnson Center (our volunteer pianist, who has now become one of my best friends, even looked up traditional Asian songs to play for him). I was able to go back to work part time, knowing he was in good hands. When he passed away, I already had caring neighbors, more activities "on/ off campus" than I could attend and a place that really relates to each other. This was the best decision we ever made for our family.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Virginia regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Virginia regulations for Assisted Living.

Frequently Asked Questions
about Falcons Landing

A Place for Mom has scored Falcons Landing 9.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
