Actually. The place has been sold once again and not for the better. No longer offer food services to residences or housekeeping. I have met some very unhappy people. My mom moved out in September so she has not had to deal with these changes.

Room for improvements
Since I have been here the food and menus have gone completely south. I have most of my dinners in my apartment. The choices and quality of food is horrible. I'm searching for a different residence. I have made some wonderful friends here and would definitely miss them if left. If I could stay here without the meals it would be ideal
There has been a turnover of staff. The activities person who was fantastic was asked to leave. She was fantastic. I don't enjoy their programs anymore. The advantage to living here is the large room size and the rent is more reasonable than other locations

Overall a nice community.
I like the free transportation, however they could have more flexibility of the transportation hours. Based on the experience I have had so far, I would recommend Elison of Niles community to other families.

Patio area very beautiful and relaxing. Also they have an indoor pool which is toasty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. On the negative side. The elevators are sometimes out. This independent living place has a lot of people who are more in need of assisted living or memory care. But, so far the rent is affordable

Warm welcoming staff/great facility
Its was a great experience and everyone was so very helpful.
The facility is beautiful and recently has undergone updates. My mother's unit is just right for her. As for the staff, they are each so friendly and kind - from the dining hall chef and staff, to housekeeping and facilities, front desk, management - each person has been incredibly welcoming and warm to our mother and us, her children.

Elison of Niles review
There have been a lot of changes at Elison in personnel since the fall. The elevators are often having repairs regularly and the lobby and shared spaces are all in the process of a renovation. Making it not so pleasant. Also, the trash shoots were sealed and trash wasn't picked up timely on the second floor.
The food is consistently good. The place is affordable.

Elison of Niles
They friendly and approachable, glad to no of help and service. Many of them have been here for years- they know the 0perational expectations and do a good job in getting to know the new residents quickly. They are the most crucial component of the facility and its long- standing success. Being a new resident , l'm carefully " learning the culture and expectations. It's a very comfortable general environment- I have to work more diligently in getting to know the others. That means I'll have to take more initiative in meeting residents and willing in on the many culture and social amenities here. Very different than in my military officer career and senior business executive career when I knew the backgrounds of my contemporaries before meeting them . Very different expectations and outreach skills being utilized here when a new resident comes here initially. I really enjoy this place, its amenities, and the people I've met so far.

A fun place to live
I am currently a resident at Elison of Niles and things have been very good for me at this facility. The staff and residents are very welcoming and friendly towards other residents and our family members. The move in was very smooth and accommodating, with an elevator available for my own use. The meals are fresh and a good variety. The activities are well run and fun. I would recommend Elison of Niles as a good Independent Living Senior Home.

[name removed] Culinary Director at Elison of Niles, has made a noticeable difference in the variety & quality of our meals. He listens to residents’ suggestions & strives to implement them in the menus. I often write comments about the excellent service & the satisfactory yet improving food. He is serving more varieties of heart healthy fish, recently adding snapper & trout. Beef is on the menu at least once a week. Fresh seasonal fruit is most welcome at breakfast & as dessert at supper, as are the apples & oranges available most days. Thank you, [name removed].

Mom feels right at home.
From the moment we stepped into Elison's entrance, we were met with nothing but kindness, compassion, and reassurance. [name removed], our sales coordinator who we worked directly with, was very knowledgeable and quick to respond to questions. She introduced us to much of the staff, and after moving in, has ensured that my mother is welcomed and feels at home. Elison is a handsome property with great amenities, delicious food, and wonderful service. My mother's unit is in excellent condition, and she feels right at home.

Wish they had provided more info upfront.
We were excited about Elison of Niles originally. But after moving in, we're disappointed. They said they would assign a buddy at first to help get the resident acclimated, which they never did. It seems like they're nickel and diming us, and there are hidden costs. They charge you to change a light bulb. If you're sick, they charge you per meal to bring meals to your room. They even charge you to pick up a meal and bring it to your room yourself. The elevator was broken for over a month. The apartment is nice, and maintenance requests have been handled. But it doesn't look like housekeeping is doing very much. Overall we're disappointed.

Tour Experience
I loved the spacious foyer where residents can gather and they also have live entertainment every week. There is someone at the front desk 24/7, plenty of parking outside and the employees are really nice. Residents I met are also very friendly and seem very happy. Location is also near the shopping area other stores and very accessible to highways.
I enjoyed my tour and if later on I will decide to move this place is at the top of my list.

A Place for Mom uses the term “assisted living” to indicate that the community provides some level of assistance with daily living activities. It does not indicate that the facility meets official state requirements for level of care.
