Comfortable living here.
At my age I was told to check around to find a place I would not be alone. I don't have family and can't rely on neighbors.

It's been a very good fit for my parents. Friendly staff. Issues get resolved fairly quickly. Good value for price. Meals could have more variety. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

Active Community, would recommend
The people at Discovery Village are the difference, it feels like a community! From the initial contact, through the move-in and beyond, the staff and residents are welcoming, active and caring. We have had to work out a few kinks and it's been an adjustment, but I have always felt that the staff genuinely wanted to help and had my dad's best interest at heart. I have recommended this community to others. We like the community feel, apartment style living with private lanais, quiet neighborhood and that both independent and assisted living participated in dining and activities together.

I would recommend it to others. They need to increase their kitchen staff. The food is pretty good but the time between the first course-fruit or salad-and the main meal can be so long that my mom falls asleep and then gets embarrassed that she did. Most of the staff that tends to my mom is good.

All of the staff and the other residents at Discovery Village Vero Beach are extremely friendly and very welcoming. Several of the other residents told me they had lived other facilities and this is the best. I would definitely recommend this facility to others.

My mom is a resident at Discovery Village Vero Beach. The housekeeping is basic sweeping and light bathroom cleaning, it could probably be a little better but they are very nice people. I have not had very much need for communication, but the staff were very helpful when I did ask any questions. I have eaten with mom a few times. They give several options and the food is quite tasty. Mom is very happy with the staff and residents and really enjoys the activities, so I would definitely recommend Discovery Village Vero Beach to others.

Our experience was short due to advanced Alzheimer's. It was too big for my mom. She would get lost. Not a locked facility. Appearance, size of apartment was nice. Price was fair. They administered meds for additional monthly fee.

Wonderful Community!
My name is Seth, I am an instructor that comes in twice a month to teach a chair yoga class for the residents. After having been there for a while now, and having such a great experience every time, I just wanted to let everyone know how awesome this place truly is!
The first thing I noticed were how happy and active all of the residents are, always chatting and laughing in the lobby when I come in, and they love telling me about all the fun events and activities the company puts on for them. Everyone on the staff is amazing as well, they all are so friendly and welcoming. Beth Sanchez was (and continues to be) very sweet and helpful in showing me around the facilities, introducing me to everyone, and just generally making me feel right at home. I thoroughly enjoy every time I teach at the community and as soon I walk out of class, I already can't wait for the next one. It is an all around amazing place with even more amazing people!

Has Changed a Little
They recently got a new director of nursing, but we were not properly introduced. We picked this community, because of the friendliness, and being able to address the residents by their names. They have misplaced laundry. The quality of the food has changed, according to the other residents. They have had a turnover in staff, which has created an issue with some of the new people not being properly trained. It's pretty good value for the money.

I think that it is run more like a business rather than a care facility. Because it is split between independent living and assisted living, there is a little bit of a disconnect. I do feel that it was more about sales than it was about the individual care.

My advice is: come, visit and speak with residents & see how they feel
Promises are made, but they are on a future schedule. It's difficult to get little things done, as far maintenance staff is concerned. I understand the priority, but for little things it takes a while; hopefully and eventually it will be done. Its' an old building, so there are priorities. They will tend to bigger issues immediately and that's how it should be. I'm discovering as I'm here longer, that things are back ordered, etc.. I understand that, but I think it takes a little more time than necessary to tend to the minor issues than the broken issues like a pipe. Specifically - I was promised when I signed on, that I would get an alert button if I need help. It's been over a month, I've paid for it, and I still haven't received it because it's on backorder. I understand backorder, but I don't understand why you wouldn't have a supply readily available and one given to you when you sign your lease. I feel that, yes, some of my issues are minor, and after a month I've been very patient yet some still haven't been resolved. There are a lot of pros and cons here, but as far as the apartment size it's wonderful. As far as the room, it's great and wonderful as well. It's one of the biggest I've seen and it can not compare to any other place I've visited and I saw six places before I came here. The people here are extremely friendly and I've made some friends. I'm here not because I want to be, rather out of necessity. Would I choose Discovery Village out of the other places I visited? Yes - just counting some of the inconveniences. It's really a very nice place.

It's the worst place in the world for the elderly
Discovery Village Vero Beach is the worst place in the world for elderly people.
In my opinion, they spent all of their money on aesthetics and very little on internal repairs and the needs of the elderly. I was without air conditioning off and on for five months. There were two maintenance men for 300 units. The maintenance man told me that they were told by management not to take repair orders in reverence to getting units ready for occupancy. They overcharged me by [price removed] on the first month and it took them two months to resolve that issue. They never resolved any of my repair requests and requirements. I fell twice in the shower, I fainted once because of the heat. It is the worst place in the world. I asked for a one month difference to my contract so I could take a unit that was available elsewhere and not lose the opportunity. It took them two months to reply, and when they did it was only one week before I was due to move.
A lady on the third floor fainted several times; she's [age removed] years old and they could never get her air conditioning corrected. The people there are afraid to complain out of fear of having no where else to go. Most of their payments are automatic, so residents never really know what's going on, and families far away keep on looting money out. It's a horrible, horrible place and I am so glad to be out of there.
