Mom was here the 10 days worst days of her life so far
My 91-year-old mother was ordered to this facility by the doctor after her stroke 3/1/2012 and it nearly killed her before I told them to discharge her or else back to her Assisted Living facility. The stroke left her with expressive aphasia and diminished strength. He insisted she must have 3 therapies (Physical, Occupational & Speech). Although the Assisted Living facility she was in normally only had 2, they advised the doctor they could order in all 3. He said "NO", and she came here. She had been walking without a walker prior to that and was quite the conversationalist, so this was shocking to all of us. She was admitted and PT & OT started, but after she had been there 6 days, I asked her how she liked the speech therapy and she shook her head "no." I checked with the nurse and discovered they never gave it to her, because some idiot forgot to order it. She advised Mom had to be evaluated and it could begin in 2-3 days. That was the final straw. I bailed her out of jail (as week called it) a few days later back to her Assisted Living facility with a speech therapist and all! I also noticed she was dirty, hair unfixed, teeth not brushed and she said no one helped her with this even though she was bedridden and she could not ask them. I asked them to do it and still nothing. The food was absolutely disgusting. Mom was ordered a soft diet, but twice while I was there for dinner she had fried fish that would have been a great frisbee, and meatloaf that could have doubled as a hockey puck. Staff was indifferent and ignored call buttons for 20-40 minutes on average. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I would have rated it ZERO, but it wouldn't let me! I would recommend Loris Extended Care Center - we had to wait 6-7 weeks to get her in Nov.2012, but it was worth it!
