Great care and very clean
We have had a loved one in memory care at The Oaks Cottage at Century Pines for 4 months. We have been very pleased with the care he receives as well as the cleanliness of the facility. I would highly recommend them.

About the facility
Century Pines

Century Pines started as a small family-owned and -operated long-term care community in 1980. They’ve been serving the senior population of Southwest Missouri for over 30 years. Through all the changes, one thing has remained consistent — the family’s commitment to superior care. The goal is to be accommodating as possible, so that residents feel comfortable.

The expansive community spans across 10 acres in Ozark, adjoining one of the city’s most beautiful parks. The serene landscaping offers residents a refreshing, peaceful experience. The community is licensed with the highest level of care permitted by the State of Missouri for an assisted living community. This makes it easier for residents to age in place without the need for a transfer down the line. The community is also licensed by the Veterans Administration, so qualified veterans and their spouses may request funding for their care.

Community Services and Amenities

As a highly rated community, they do their best to provide top-tier services. They offer around-the-clock assistance and a full-time registered nurse on call 24/7. Medical doctors and physicians are also available around the clock to provide specialized care. Additionally, the community offers medication management administered by state-certified medication aides to help maintain resident’s...

Beautiful 9 resident facility in a quiet rural setting with dedicated and loving staff.
When it comes to the activities they haven't really had a chance to get our anywhere because of the weather. However, our loved one likes it there. It makes it much easier to know she is so loved by all the people who take care of her there.

Well Pleased
I have been pleased with the care my sister has been given at Century Pines. She is more stable than she has been for years. She seems to like the staff and has made many friends with both staff and residents. She enjoys the excursions the residents take, the trips to the senior center and library or for shopping, etc. The spiritual input has been excellent in the devotional times. And she enjoys activities and exercise and trips to the in-house beauty shop. And the festivities of holidays. Although staffing of aides seems to be a problem (having enough help and keeping them) somehow they work things out and the residents are cared for.

Century Pines
We are very frustrated with Century Pines during the lock down. There is absolutely no communication about how our loved one is doing because we obviously can no longer visit to check on him. We call and are always told someone will call us back - it never happens! Honestly, it seems like this lock down is an excuse for laziness and a chance for staff to take a break & not do an adequate job. We have no idea what is going on there. It is very heart breaking to see our father declining (through a window) because of depression caused by isolation. The residents are not allowed to eat together or visit with each other, it has become a very lonely life for our loved one. We actually called some other places & are considering moving our father. Just interesting that the other assisted livings are not as strict as Century Pines & even encourage family visits 6 feet apart.

Fair review of Century Pines
We have a love/hate relationship with Century Pines. It has a lot of good things going for it. It is nice that it is small, most of the staff is kind. If you have any issues you can take it up directly with the owner. The landscaping, for the most part, is pretty. It isn't kept up, but it is much better than being in the city and having to look out the window at the highway or parking lot. Love that the rooms have sliding glass doors and the residents can go outside and enjoy the property. The cons are mostly the food. They told us on the initial visit that the residents have two choices for every meal, it is even advertised that this is the case on their website. However, we have visited multiple times during lunch and the food is so bad. I have never seen two choices. The residents sit and sit and wait for their meals to be brought to them individually, they are not asked what they want. The people working in the kitchen seemed very unkind. I know you can't please everyone, but the food is so bad! Thankfully, you can keep your own fridge and microwave in your room and can supplement with snacks, but when you are paying so much to live there, seems like you shouldn't have to do this. The other con is that there is not much communication going on to the families. During the recent virus the resident families have been kept completely in the dark. One other thing you should know if you are considering Century Pines, if your loved one does not have a phone there is a community phone in the hallway. Your loved one is paged to answer the phone, if they do not answer or hear the page for them the phone is left on hold for an hour, if you keep calling back you get a busy signal until someone eventually hangs up the call. It is virtually impossible to call on the weekends, the weekend staff is not as kind, a tad rude. Just a few of our observations. For the most part we really like the location, so just giving a fair rating.

The staff seems like they truly care for the residents
I took a tour here while looking for a place for my loved one. It’s an older home with a bunch of bedrooms in it and there were some smells in certain parts, though I’m sure it’s simply because of the age of the building. The nurse that gave us the tour was really good with answering our questions and she seemed very knowledgeable about the type of care my loved one would’ve needed. We were shown the rooms and some of them were larger, maybe big enough for a semi private room, but most of them were small and could only house one person. There wasn’t anything truly negative about this place. They were able to meet my expectations as an average facility.

Great Place
We moved my Dad here per his request because he grew up in Ozark. He was formerly at The Fremont in Springfield because that was close to our house. Century Pines seemed old, confusing and more like the old time rest homes, but I was wrong. The staff here has been phenomenal. As his Alzheimer's progresses, they have been very patient and gone out of their way to make him comfortable. The place is very clean and there is always staff to help if I have questions or concerns. [Removed] personally calls with suggestions and updates. All facilities should follow their personalized lead. I usually never write a review, but felt it was necessary. They deserve recognition.

Comfort for Dad!
The staff at the Century Pines Assisted Living have been very attentive and welcoming to my father. The place is kept clean and everything seems to be maintained well. The food, from what we have seen, looks very good. We were there for breakfast once and my father had no complaints about it. When we toured the place it felt like it would be the best choice, and we are very happy.

just like family
It is just like family at Century Pines Assisted Living. They don't have a lot of activities because the residents have Alzheimer. The staff do take them outside and they watch TV. I know they are working on this but I do think they need more staff members here. There was one girl that was there by herself the other day and that made me nervous. But again it's not their fault and they are trying to hire more people. I like this facility because it is just like being home. It actually is a house. They have 10 residents or under. There are 4 or 5 other men that are about the same age as him which is nice. It is not like him being in an institution. I am really happy with this facility.

overall am pleased with the facility
The staff are always nice to family and usually to mom at Century Pines Assisted Living. At this facility they don't have a cart that goes around with the residents medication but they have a medication room that they all have to go to at the same time. Sometimes the residents have to wait a long time in line (10 to 45 minutes) to receive their medication. I just think there has got to be a better way than this. That is the main concern I have about this facility. Overall, most of the staff are nice to her and the care is good. The building is old but clean so that it appears more like an old hotel rather than like a hospital. I like that.

Helpful and caring staff!
Working with Century Pines has been a wonderful experience overall! They made everything so easy and were so helpful during the move-in process. I was taking care of this situation on my own, so every bit of help I got was appreciated. When we arrived they were ready and waiting with some staff members to help us get my loved one moved in! It's a clean, well kept, nice looking facility, and the staff are all very friendly. They've also got a great visiting doctor!

WOW! 10 acres. fenced in. Rn. on staff 24/7. Daily devos, activities. Administer meds, do laundry, help with bath, 3 meals (2 choices at each meal), housekeeping. prices 1450 - medium sized private=2550/month, 2 rm suites available. After assets are less than 80k, she qualifies for VA 1050/month (takes 9 months to qualify, so they apply ahead of time, and the money is paid retroactive for the 9 mo application period). Invited us to come and talk with residents. Even if she eventually needs medicaid, she will not be delineated... have millionaire residents, but only accounting knows who is who. She has to be able with assistance to get into a wheel chair, when unable, can be considered "failure to thrive" and can be considered hospice, and then will be able to stay. 709 E. McKraken bring photos, furniture, anything that will make it look and feel like home. She can go for visits, or even say 3 day reunions, and they'll send her meds. They check on patients every 2 hrs in night with flashlights to not wake them. 1st rule, no broken hips, want residents to be careful. will go to get her for meals if she doesn't happen to follow the herd to meals :o), if ill, a tray will be taken to her. Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Missouri regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Missouri regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Century Pines 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
