A Wonderful Experience for my Mom
My mom has lived in Century Oaks nearly 3 years. She entered in a medical state of needing care; recovering from broken ankles, surgery, in treatment for cancer also, struggling physically, weak, and needing support from leaving her independent living lifestyle behind. From day one, she has received so much loving support, gentle care, encouragement, and help along her journey in recovering. She has adjusted well and takes part in various activities and socializing. She loves her life there and is full of gratitude for all staff: current Director/Management, Nursing/Care, Activities Director, Kitchen, Housekeeping, everyone. When you walk in this beautiful place, Building #1, you feel the joy and care in the staff as they are always smiling and friendly. I encourage a visit/tour to see for yourself.

Large, comfortable rooms. Timely meds.
This review is for Building 1, and accordingly, I can not speak for the other parts of the facility. My wife has been a resident for years so I can speak to the before and after ownership change. While there have been staff changes following the management changeover, at no time has my loved one ever missed a meal or medications. I am often on a video call when staff delivers food, meds, cleans the room, etc. and I have never observed an instance where they were less than kind and caring. Two improvements under the new owners have been the addition of a full time activities person and an upgrade call system. A couple things we originally chose the home for, spacious rooms and everything on 1 floor has not changed, of course. If you are looking for a care facility, I encourage you to visit the place and meet the staff.

Exceptional staff
The staff at Century Oaks provided exceptional care for my dad. Dad required respite care after his discharge from the hospital. The director took care of the arrangements with very little lead time. During the 2 weeks my dad spent at Century Oaks, he was treated with respect and compassion. I will always be grateful for this experience and the Century Oaks staff and leadership.

Overall care has become awful
My mom has been there since the doors opened. It is getting very bad.the help is bad. The last two nites she got her nite meds at 11.30 pm. She asked someone and they found them in the trash.she hardly ever gets asked about food. They clean her room sometimes. No scheduled showers. It may look nice but that’s all. It was recently sol to some investors from Texas. So there are no bosses on site. You know what that means. She is wheelchair bound, but they tell her this is assisted living she has to help herself. Think twice and do your homework cause you will be disappointed.

It's an absolutely beautiful place, like a 5-star hotel. It's well decorated. The only thing we had to take there were our loved one's clothes, toothpaste, and toothbrush. Everything else was included - TV, furniture, everything. She's happy with the food overall. It's a very good place, and about the same price as anything else in the area.

It is very good
We thought basic information like knowing what time the meals are, helping out with the TV channels would of been helpful during the onboarding process. Even though our loved one does not participate in activities, they have a bunch going on

Disappointed
I think it is fine for assisted living, but if you need more care I would not recommend it. If you have someone to advocate for you it is a great place and beautiful, but if you do not things do not get done as they should.

Throughly pleased
My Mom is a resident of Century Oaks. My 3 siblings and myself are so pleased with the facility all of the amenities they provide. After doing my homework of several facilities before bring her back to Wisconsin to be closer to family as she has memory issues, the cost for Century Oaks very cost friendly.

Wonderful staff and a beautiful modern enviroment
My mother in law lives at Century Oaks and we love it. The staff treats everyone like family and is very welcoming. The food is great and they give 2 food options at every meal and an adult beverage if she wants, their is also “snack alley “ where she can Help herself to ice cream soda cappuccino and the chef always has treats sitting out. The building is absolutely beautiful and housekeeping keeps it super clean. I am so happy that my 80-year-old mother-in-law wants to live here and now calls it her home.

The people are very helpful they are concerned for the residents. Let them know if you have an issue so they can help find a solution. The rooms sizes are great. They have their own washer and dryer. I love the setup. My mom likes the food.

Avoid
My mom was a resident. The caregivers try but they are severely understaffed. With no caregiver per resident regulations, they say they are not understaffed but they are. My sister and I would come every single evening and witnessed so many disturbing violations. In a complaint filed with the state, there were 6 caregivers onsite during a fire drill with 57 residents, most of whom need assistance in transporting and/or suffer from dementia. Another complaint that was substantiated reported a resident forgotten outside in the sun for over three hours on an 80 degree day last summer. If your loved one is quiet, if you pay your rent on time, and if you don’t inquire or complain, [name removed], one of the owners, will be nice. Otherwise, she will get in your face, agree with you to your face, then turn around and change her mind, or argue aggressively and invite you to give your 30 day notice. [name removed] should never be in direct contact with residents and their families. Most of the positive reviews on Google are given by the family of the owners ([name removed]) or employees ([name removed]).

It was a very tough transition for mom, but the people at Century Oaks were very helpful and nice. The place is beautiful and the meals are good. It’s nice for mom to have a variety of choices to pick from at all three meals. They are in the process of adjusting there activities for the residents. The changes look very promising.

Century Oaks is a wonderful assisted living home, My mother in law was extremely happy while recovering from back surgery. They have a professional chef with two entrees' to choose from, a wonderful salad bar and an ice cream machine to make cones or sundaes when you want. The staff are attentive and alway kind and respectful. Love this place : ) I would live here now!

Hell
This company is NOT for dementia residents!! They will say they are but they’re not!! ALWAYS short staffed, and staff does not introduce themselves. Most staff dressed unprofessionally. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION! When questions are asked of staff about resident “oh I don’t know I wasn’t working that shift” or “I’m not sure what happened” with unexplained scratches/bruises on the resident. No licensed staff in building 24 hrs, only CNA med techs. No activities for dementia. An occasional musician but mostly bingo bingo and more bingo with a possible movie at night. Room is not cleaned routinely. And did I mention NO COMMUNICATION! Also if you try to call this facility to check on the resident THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE, after multiple attempts during the day they might but pm/ night shift hardly if at all. Just not a good facility.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Wisconsin regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Wisconsin regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Century Oaks Assisted Living 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
