All staff do a wonderful job within the constraints of their woefully in adequate budget. Annual rent increases cause us all great anxiety. In truths I don't know if I can afford to live here if rent increase continues. [date removed] it was twice what ss cost of living increase was.

Thank you for taking the time to review Cardinal Village! Unfortunately annual increases are necessary for communities and apartments in order to account for the increases in wages and supplies each year. Without them we would be forced to reduce some of our provided amenities Fortunately we've been able to limit the increases each year while still providing the level of services most of our residents expect.

Very friendly, convenient, organized,
I think for anyone who lives in Cuyahoga Falls or Stow Cardinal Village is very convenient. The staff is very friendly. It is very organized. The meal plan is very good. The activities are all planned ahead. The rooms are very clean and well maintained There is also an outdoor patio that is very nice and convenient. Get together with family the laundry area and where you can throw your trash out are all very convenient. Everything in one place it’s a very nice place.

Our experience at Cardinal Retirement
The food isn't that good. Glad a kitchen is available in independent living. Price increase each year has been pretty high. Apartments are decent size. The outdoor screened porch is nice for summer time.

Our Experience
Cleaning staff is an issue. They are always short. Therefore, residents aren't getting their apartments cleaned. It is supposed to be done twice a month, and it is usually once. But the staff, cleaning and others, are super nice, super helpful. They are always willing to deliver packages, groceries, and meals right to my mom's door. I think communication is good. My emails and calls are answered quickly. The move in process was OK. At the other facility, my mom lived at, she was allowed to move in at least a week early at no extra charge. Cardinal only let her move in a couple of days early, and she was charged for those days. The apartment was poorly painted. This is not a fancy place. The common areas have been updated, but the hallways and some other areas really need some attention, especially the exterior areas and the landscaping. Residents have screened in porches, but there are no gutters, so they get soaked when it rains. The exit from the porches to the yard are just plain dangerous. I think the meals are hit and miss. My mom has complained and raved about the meals. All of that being said, my mom loves it there because the staff and the residents are so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this facility just because of the staff and the care they show the residents. The facility is old and just not as nice as most, but the staff and the price more than makes up for it.

Thank you so much for the 5 star review! Our housekeeping/cleaning is usually a function of staffing, so when we're short staffed there's a delay getting to some of the rooms. As a result, we're always seeking and hiring the best candidates to add to our staff. Screened porches and outdoor spaces leading to private courtyards are amenities that most (if not all) other area communities do not offer. The outdoor area around each porch is space for the residents and their families to make use of however they choose, whether it's mulching, gardening or otherwise. This is not an area that our staff or landscape company oversees but space for residents to decorate as they see fit. If there is a safety issue, however, please bring it to our attention for us to address as needed and we will correct it. Although an older community than some, we regularly update our common areas and apartments with our main focus on cleanliness and safety, regardless of our facility limitations. We will always continue to improve upon areas that need work and helpful reviews like yours help to focus our attention on those that need it most. Thank you again for your kind and helpful review and especially entrusting us with your mother.

Cardinal Village is an Open, Friendly, Caring Place to Put Your Loved Ones When They Need Extra Help
We are very pleased with our experience. This is the best place we found for our loved one. The location is good for us. My loved one seems happier than they have been in a long time. The family isn't able to eat with our loved one due to the pandemic. My loved one doesn't always care for the food. Some of the activities available include entertainment, arts and crafts, games, puzzles, library, and more for the residents to choose from.

Thanks so much for your review! Our entire staff works very hard to provide the best living experience for our residents and we appreciate both positive and negative feedback. Our executive chef and dining crew are also very responsive and encourage residents and family to share when unsatisfied with a meal or any part of their dining service. Thanks again for your review and for being a part of the Cardinal community!

Thank you for visiting our community and taking the time to review us. I'm sorry we did not have available apartments that we could offer. We are usually full and have a short wait list but also move through the wait list quickly for independent residents. Assisted Living takes a bit longer to move through. If you haven't already located another community, please check back with us or place your name on our wait list. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Very Positive Environment
It has absolutely been a positive experience. The only issue has been that my loved one is very high functioning. He still drives and is very independent. And he would like to see more intellectual type activities. They have a lot of bingo and a few other things. But it's just not as intellectually stimulating as he would like. And really that's the only thing that makes it not perfect for him. But he raves about the food and tells me it is excellent. He likes the floor layout of the apartments and the services they provide (cleaning, etc.). He feels they're very reliable. And everything seems to be in good working order in his apartment and the laundry facilities.

They are very people-oriented, the staff can't do enough for you. They have had 0 covid cases and their plan in place for covid is great. Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Ohio regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Ohio regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Cardinal Retirement Village 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
