During a short visit, I was able to ask about staff turnover, and was able to see some resident/staff interactions. Staff interaction during the assessment of my spouse as an applicant was valuable. I was also looking at the rooms (size, single or double) and the space configuration (does it seem to fit my spouse’s behavior, eg, is she a pacer or a socializer). I also talked to family members of current residents. I believe one never knows for sure if it will work beforehand. And what works for one family is not always transferable to another resident or family. For me, I am glad I chose Brookdale Meadowment for my spouse. My feelings about the caring and skill of the staff have been confirmed. A single room in a small facility seems right. The nurses/staff are always around and very busy keeping the place tidy and smelling fresh, replenishing the snack station, making sure everyone is well cared for with on-time meds and regular friendly check-ins. It's a highly personalized experience.
