Great Professionalism..Bad Scheduling
I'm a homebound senior. Although I can do certain tasks on my own I have health issues that make it difficult to stand, walk, bend and lift. I also have lymphadema in both legs and from time to time they swell and the skin breaks down needing long term wound care and dressing changes. As a retired nurse myself I know the level of professionalism I expect and I'm happy to say the RN staff at the Westside location is great. The caregivers they have sent me have for the most part been energetic, caring, efficient kind and willing. But...the scheduling is a nightmare. I require consistency. Unfortunately I have had several different caregivers over the short time I have been with them. I do appreciate the staff's efforts to accommodate both caregivers needs and client needs but it's like musical caregivers...never can plan on one being long lasting.

Outstanding, impeccable company. Cannot say enough good to express it.
BrightStar care West Portland has gone out on a limb for me, supplying me with caregivers no matter what, because I am a quadriplegic living at home with no family or friends around to help me! I am Medicaid, so I pay nothing – $0.00! It is extremely hard to find a caregiver on a short notice, for any company, because caregivers are in demand because of the short supply. They ensure that I will never be left alone, and offer caregivers a very high rate on a short notice, so that I will always have care! The care they offer, and their level of professionalism is Outstanding. I would highly recommend. I am not being paid for this review and I am an independent unaffiliated client.

Easier to do it yourself than hire this company
Terrible. Nice staff members for a conversation but don't look for any results. You never know who is going to come, or if they will miss. Numerous no shows with no warning. You get the "employee of the day" and so having to explain everything all the time, ended up easier not using the service. A couple slept on the job, one just came at night unannounced wanting to work extra hours at 8pm, and another one yelled at me and tried to tell me what hours we needed her, kept going back and forth to her car, with an alcohol smell to her breath. Bizzare experience. When complained shrugged and told they were doing everything they could do to find help. Question is? Why are you advertising for clients when can't handle ones you have.

ok
My mother is in Oregon and I am in Arizona, so I have had to rely on them to transport and take care of my mom. One day I set her up to go to the doctor. Mom has dementia, and mom later told me about how good the doctor visit went, and I later found out from the doctor that she was a no-show. Brightstar Healthcare then asked mom if she went, and mom said yes (which was not accurate) and they dropped it from there. I provided feedback to them about how they need to communicate with and trust me rather than her.

Not a good experience
Our experience with Brightstar was not a good one, overall. The administrative staff were pleasant to work with and get information from, but when we decided to use the service and tried to contact them we didn't hear back from them for quite a while. When we did hear back from them the woman they sent over was not very professional. She was wearing a shabby looking stained t-shirt, and Mom said that she wasn't very social and seemed standoffish.
