We placed my Mom at Avalon Memory Care in late May and have been very pleased with the care. After touring several other facilities, we felt that Avalon Memory Care provided a more home-like vs an institutionalized environment for our Mom. The ratio of caregivers to residents is higher than at other facilities; the caregivers are attentive and caring, and the owner and the director are responsive to any suggestions for change. We have not seen our Mom be so responsive in years!

Care is Great
Avalon Memory Care has been great for us and takes great care of my father. They've taken care of everything and watched carefully. It's wonderful that they can arrange any necessary doctor visits. I work outside the city during the week so it's difficult for me to handle any such arrangements myself. My aunt also appreciates how well my dad is being cared for.

A positive experience
We like that Avalon community has a home like environment, it is not very large which makes it more intimate and cozy. The rooms are very nice, they have very large shower and plenty of room for the residents to walk around. We would recommend this community to others.

Care for dad
I am happy to see my father is liking the care from this community.y The staff are nice and attentive to his needs. The community is clean and he is enjoying the variety of the meals. He is offered to participate in the activities. We like knowing that he is happy and getting great care. We do recommend this community for th good value and care that is received.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. Our location on Crestmere in Dallas is very special to me as we had just opened it up not too long before I arrived in 1999. Of course there has been an extensive remodel and renovation since then. This location in between Preston and Hillcrest off of Belt Line Road is absolutely stunning but at the end of the day the multi-year staff members are what make Avalon special as relates to the care we provide. Our Journey with Avalon
My husband has been in this Avalon residence since July 15, 2016 when he was dismissed from Haven Behavorial Hospital in Frisco. He liked being there from the beginning and still does, which truly is a blessing.
I am somewhat disappointed in cleanliness and the attitude of some of the aids, i.e.
I was visiting for about an hour on Sunday and one aid opened the door and i never saw her again and the other one sat in a chair, dosing and talking on her cell phone, with her head always looking down. She appeared to think that was okay that I was observing her.
There is one male aid my husband responds to very positively...he just isn't there as often as I would like.
At this time there are 4 residents living there...two others are in the hospital.
The manager seems to be doing a good job as does her assistant. I often haven't handled a situation appropriately or made good decisions myself and will try harder. I pray things will improve with just a little more time as we adjust.
I didn't expect to see a lot of activity but have observed none in the few weeks my husband has been there.
Having said all this, the important thing is Derrell needs to feel cared for and he definitely does!

Communication via family/ Avalon/ and the medical personnel that come into our locations can help us exceed a standard that all of our residents deserve.

How Senior Care SHOULD be!!
After several different hospital stays, two memory care facilities, and a rehab center for our father in the course of three months, my sister and I were very discouraged about care for seniors. What we found more oft than not were people who wanted a paycheck and did not want to engage with or properly care for seniors with memory/dementia/Alzheimer's issues. Then by a great stroke of luck, we were told of Avalon and, specifically, of the care center at Crestmere. The first thing we learned was that it is not a center or facility -- it is a home. It really is a home! The staff are wonderful, the house and rooms are clean and our father, who has a big appetite, eats to satisfaction where as other places he was so hungry. The staff laugh about his appetite and truly seem fond of him. After a few weeks, our mother, who has Alzheimer's joined him.
Initially, we had been scared. However difficult our mother is in her Alzheimer's the staff are constantly reassuring my family, telling us what to expect and helping both us and our parents adjust. This is how I always hoped or thought, then wished senior care was like.
We know our parents are cared for with respect, dignity and patience. I believe Avalon to be a leader in senior care and other "care" facilities should take note of Avalon.
