Care and value for care
I toured this community for care. The staff was nice and they were able to answer the questions we wanted a different layout for my mom to be able to get around. The menu was appealing and the activities would have been helpful. We liked this community and would suggest this for good care and options for loved ones.

Our experience with Golden Pond has been a good one overall, they're doing an excellent job caring for our loved one. The facility itself is well kept and clean, and the staff here is friendly and professional. They really handled the adjustment period well, and put a lot of effort into acclimating her to the community and making sure she felt comfortable.

Excellent Care, at Compass at Hopkinton MA
My mother is currently living at Compass at Hopkinton in MA. She has severe Dementia, but still recognizes me and my 2 sisters. Since this is all new to me, (I know very little about Dementia) I do not have anything to compare it to. The direct care staff are all very nice, the admin staff are also nice. The residents are well cared for, fed, bathed, dressed, and changed when necessary. Daily activities vary, and my mother dislikes many of the activities, but that is the nature of Dementia. The dining/living area is sunny, and very pleasant. Everyone has their own bedroom, furnished with their own things and decorated with their own paintings/ old photographs, etc. there are 2 bedrooms per suite, with a shared bathroom between them. For my Mom, this is the most ideal situation out there, as she cannot sleep with another person in her room. Floors are mopped frequently, and staff do all the laundry, and make everyone's bed, and tidy their rooms, for those unable to do it themselves. Hallways are wide enough to allow people using "walkers" and wheelchairs to come and go with little difficulty. A hair salon is located in the building, as well as the physical therapy department. The grounds are pretty, wooded, with a small pond that kids skate on in the winter, my Mom loves to watch that from the huge picture window. family and friends are able to visit and take their family member out at any time without making arrangements first, the staff is very flexible about this, which I think is just great. I also am able to bring my Mom's dog to visit her, which makes her , as well as her dog, very happy. This is a locked unit on the 3rd floor of a very pretty building. I looked at 3 or 4 other places, nothing is "perfect", but Compass at Hopkinton meets all of our needs quite nicely.

My dad has only been at Compass a week & a half. I've found everyone to be friendly, competent & always ready to accomodate the residents & their families. I chose Compass for it's location. The executive director made me feel very comfortable & that this was the right fit for my father. I had a positive feeling about it.

Wonderful place. Companion space might be too small for dad. The other options are out of his price range. I think he will need more care than what is being offered here.

Golden Pond in Hopkinton is fantastic
Golden Pond is an absolutely fantastic facility. The aides care for my father as if he is a member of their own family. They provide additional services that take the level of care well beyond that of a typical assisted living facility. I couldn't recommend it more.

Nice looking place, and friendly, but very small rooms
This was one of the places we looked at when we were looking for care for Mom. I had to start looking for options on very short notice, and I appreciated that they were able to get me in for a tour so quick. It was a nice looking place, and the administrator was friendly and helpful. However, the rooms were very small compared to other locations we saw, and that was an immediate turn-off. It was nice overall, but not what we went with in the end.

Toured the 1 & 2 bedroom units that are being completed. Loved the facility however, the additional costs for certain services seemed excessive. For example $8 to take someone in wheelchair to each meal (add'l 8760 per year).

Response from Hearthstone Alzheimer's Care - Hopkinton
July 7, 2014
I think you are referring to the construction, rooms and fees for Golden Pond Assisted Living. Compass at Hopkinton is the Alzheimer's Care wing on the 3rd floor and we are unaffiliated with Golden Pond.
